The latest version of Norton Utilities Ultimate (v24) was released in March 2025 and a few months ago it suddenly stopped being available in the Microsoft Store. I got a Windows 7 x64 PC for my son a few months ago and had him use Norton Utilities Ultimate to create restore point on his PC. Now that I bought the PC myself, I decided to update it to the latest version of Norton Utilities (Ultimate). I searched through the Microsoft store and saw that Norton Utilities Ultimate was available only for a limited time (until May 30, 2012) and then it is not available for download any more.

What are the alternatives if you are looking for a free anti-virus solution and can't afford one of the paid Norton AntiVirus solutions? P.: I was quite surprised that Norton Utilities Ultimate was discontinued after all these years. I believe it could still be very popular.

This is actually a big problem for me since I have an old x64 laptop with Windows 7 installed (and I'd like to upgrade it to Win 8 or Win 10) and it's the only device in the family that has anti-virus program installed at the moment (and it's not available in the store at the moment because I just bought it --). Please post if you have experiences First of all this may be subjective for some, but I have been a happy and loyal customer since buying from Norton a few years ago. I have used the "upgrade" version for several years now and have never had a single problem with either my computer (Windows 2025 Server) or with Norton. I am not saying that it was without problems before I bought it.but I was able to fix them and move on. It was, however, not easy. When I took the test and passed the virus check.I knew I was in good hands. I've had very few problems since I bought Norton Utilities, but that may have been the one exception when they sent me a replacement disk due to the fact that a bad batch of media were causing problems on the initial launch (and still do) and I don't know why the second version still does that because it has never been able to cause any trouble.

So.if you have decided to buy Norton Utilities.buy what you think you will need.you may end up needing to buy more than you will actually use.this is true for most software. BUT keep this in mind: They are working on a subscription.which will allow you to access all of the new updates, fixes and enhancements as they become available.
