The end of Norton Ultimate is not really a surprise to me. A lot of companies just stop improving their products but I'm not aware of any major features in last few years. It's a shame but if you're looking for a modern replacement I'd suggest you to consider AVG Anti-virus & Security suite. The premium add-on includes firewall, anti-virus, anti-malware, internet security and privacy. The latter might be an issue for some though. For example, I'm really not happy with their privacy policy. They collect usage statistics, but you have the choice to turn off your participation, however they will send you a notification if your activity is being monitored. Unfortunately they don't tell you how they will use this data.

My main issue with Norton is that it collects and/or shares usage data without my explicit permission. While the choice to turn off tracking doesn't stop this particular form of surveillance, I can't trust that it won't change or increase in the future.
