What is the primary and secondary DNS for AdGuard?

We offer two DNS based servers.

Both of them are in the form of a recursive name server that you can add to your favorite DNS client and control on a very high level. In addition to providing our primary service, we have another server where we cache domain lists, provide advanced filtering as well as support multiple user interfaces for better usability.

AdGuard primary (DNS-02) primary. The first server is AdGuard DNS 02. This is the master name server responsible for the entire network. Its main purpose is to provide DNS and IP address lookup for all internet connections managed by us. We set it up to provide both IPv6 as well as IPv4 addresses. This is crucial because there are many users who connect to the internet via multiple VPN provider servers each providing their own IP address. By having this kind of functionality we can assign different priorities to clients that are behind our service.

If your browser does not show the correct IP address, make sure that you have setup IPv6 correctly. You can check it with the following command: wget -q -O -. IPv4 address lookup (secondary). The second server (DNS-01) is responsible for IPv4 resolution. It contains a list of several thousand domains that we keep up to date. This secondary server uses the same protocol as the primary, but it is not a recursive server and works differently. To see a more detailed description please refer to the DNS article.

AdGuard secondary (DNS-01) secondary. How do I switch to DNS-02? There are several ways to change the DNS server to our primary server. The easiest way is to use the built in Windows network manager. Go to the TCP/IP settings and select advanced settings. This is the most recent method.

An alternative way of configuring the primary name server is by editing the hosts file which allows you to directly point to our secondary server. You need to add the following line to the bottom of your hosts file: IP of our secondary DNS(dns-02.foolbox.no-ip.org)

It should look like the following: 168.1)1 foolbox.org 192.1)1

How do I access the local network with IPv6?

Which DNS can block ads?

This is my attempt to explain why I think I can't use the default Windows DNS servers (I mean, I just have). To prevent ads when I'm not on WiFi.

TL;DR: I know this is a very basic answer but it might have answer. I use the Adblock DNS service to prevent ads but I can't get it to work.

As you know the DNS server that resolves DNS lookups is one of your network connection's settings. The name of the server is configured in Network and Sharing Center as "Default domain server" and has these settings (see: ).

These are the settings for the "AdFree DNS" : The idea behind it is it has two entries like "OpenDNS". When I try to visit sites without AdBlocker software it redirects me to a page without an ad but when I block the ads the DNS service redirects me to an ad (like every other DNS service).

How do I setup AdGuard DNS on my router?

I've been reading the comments, and some people are saying they have this, and some others are not. I just want to make sure I am not missing something.

You need to download the router software. After downloading, you go to Program Files (x86)/Adguard VPN. Open up the program, then click Preferences. Click Additional tab and click Add Server. Go to the browser you wish to use the VPN connection through. In this case I have the Opera browser open, but you can choose any browser you wish Then input the IP address for your VPN server. I am not using a web browser, so I did not enter a web address, but I enter the IP address. In this case I enter 192.168.1
Then click Ok. Then exit the program, but not close it. Just click the cross icon in the upper right corner Open the program again and click Advanced. Now the last tab will be Internet. The first option in this tab is Connection Mode. This will either be Always or Selected IP Addresses Only Click the radio button next to Always. A text box should pop up with the IP addresses. Click Ok and then click Apply. Click OK. Then exit the program again. Now you should be able to use the IP addresses in your network on the internet. @jkad: Sorry to bother you with the details of setting up VPN, but I think they're all worth it. Download and install the router software Navigate to the router software. In Windows, this is typically under C:Program Files (x86)adguard-proadguard-pro-windowsbin.

What is the best DNS protocol for AdGuard?

If you have a few dollars to spend on AdGuard DNS and are not using the commercial DNS services, what is the best option?

If you are looking for the best DNS protocol that allows you to filter ads using DNS queries, the answer is not one, but several protocols. When we talk about DNS, we usually mean a set of servers that are used to answer our queries about addresses. There are many services that we can use as a DNS server, but the question is how to connect all of these DNS servers in order to create a global network. There is one main DNS protocol that is widely used by commercial DNS providers and that's called DNS over TCP/IP or DNS-over-TCP-IP. We will compare different DNS services that implement this protocol and that allow filtering traffic. We will also look at the costs of these DNS services, so you know how much money you need to allocate to a DNS provider.

DNS Protocol. DNS is a standard protocol that was designed in 1983 to make it easy to find an IP address given a domain name. In the first versions of DNS, we had only one protocol for accessing the DNS system, called DNS-over-TCP-IP. It was later introduced as a second protocol, called DNS-over-HTTPS, but the two protocols are pretty similar and they are often mixed up with each other. The main difference between DNS-over-TCP-IP and DNS-over-HTTPS is that DNS-over-TCP-IP is accessed over TCP connections, while DNS-over-HTTPS is accessed over HTTPS connections. In addition, DNS-over-TCP-IP uses UDP packets, while DNS-over-HTTPS uses TCP/TLS. All of the DNS protocols work in pretty much the same way. In order to obtain the IP address of a host, we have to resolve a domain name. For instance, if we want to find out where www.google.com is hosted, we have to ask the DNS server where is www.com located.

In most cases, we have to query the DNS server using a specific protocol, like TCP or UDP. The most common DNS protocols are UDP, TCP, and TLS.
