What was the original Disney Princesses movie?

(Spoiler: it's Beauty and the Beast)

For anyone who has read my previous blog post, you'll know that I am somewhat of a Disney Princess geek. And if you've read my previous blog posts, you'll know that my geekery also extends to other aspects of pop culture like, say, Marvel movies.

Disney films are, to me, some of the best ever made and there is no denying that a huge part of why they are so good is because of their fantastic writing. They're filled with witty banter, smart dialogue and just a general sense of fun and fun loving charm. Disney's approach to female characters is usually pretty cool, too; their women are a lot more developed and interesting than those in other film genres.

As a female Disney fan, it's very important to me that a woman is going to get a chance to play the main role in a Disney film. I don't want to see a male take on Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. The first time I watched Cinderella, I was a bit bemused by it because I thought it was a bit sexist and didn't see why anyone would want a woman to play Cinderella.

I didn't know until much later that the original Cinderella was a musical with the male lead in the title role, played by Dan Dailey. This seemed strange at the time but as I got older, I became less judgemental of musicals. I even saw Into the Woods, another musical with a female lead, and enjoyed it. When I discovered that the original Cinderella was a Disney film, I was delighted.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s when Disney films were very popular. I remember watching them all. Beauty and the Beast was the one I liked best. It's the only Disney film I remember being very emotionally involved in. I was in tears at the end, happy tears. This was the same year I started seeing Disney films.

When I went back and looked up the original Beauty and the Beast, I was surprised by what I discovered. I had never realised that it was an adaptation of a novel and not a fairy tale.

Who is the older Disney Princess?

We're currently celebrating the 75th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which means we're talking about the oldest Disney Princess ever.

To the surprise of many, the older princess seems to be Cinderella, but she also has a very strong case. That's what this post is all about.

We're not going to count the Cinderella in The Little Mermaid (1989). We're also not going to count the Cinderella in the Tangled movies. We're counting only the ones that were officially released as a film and were advertised as being part of the 75th anniversary celebration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The most obvious choice is Snow White (1937). That was the first Disney movie that was not a cartoon. However, it is also not one of the official 75th anniversary movies. So, that makes it harder to choose. Snow White is an origin story, so that doesn't really help us.

Also, we're going to consider only the Disney Princess who actually has a film credit in the title. We don't want to count the Cinderella from the ABC television show. That was an adaptation of the fairy tale, not a film. Also, we're not counting the TV series Once Upon a Time because that was more of a spin-off, even if it was a Disney production.

So, here are the contenders. We're considering both movies and TV series, so it's important to take note of the credits at the end of each.

Snow White (1937). Snow White (1937) Credits. Snow White is not officially part of the 75th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The Seven Dwarfs (1937). The Seven Dwarfs (1937) Credits. Cinderella is not officially part of the 75th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

What Disney Princess was 17 years old?

Princess Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty is 17 years old.

It was announced yesterday that the movie has been delayed till 2024, but I still think it's a great idea to make a list of all the Disney Princesses who were 17 years old, and which year they were born.

The list consists of all the Disney Princesses up to 2024. I'm sure there are other Disney Princesses who was 17 years old and I'm sorry I can't think of any of them right now. Disney Princesses - 17 years old (2010). Disney Princess - 17 years old in 2024. Gale was born in 1995, and first appeared in The Little Mermaid as the youngest of the daughters. She's still the youngest Disney Princess. She was 17 years old in 2024, and she didn't get her own movie yet, although I think she should.

Minnie Mouse. Minnie Mouse was born in 1921, and made her first appearance in Plane Crazy in 1929. Minnie was 17 years old in 2024, and since she's older than the real Walt Disney, she's supposed to have more years, but I don't think so. I think Minnie will live for ever.

Ariel. Ariel was born in 1986, and first appeared in The Little Mermaid as the daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena. Ariel is 17 years old in 2024, and she didn't get her own movie yet.

Cinderella. Cinderella was born in 1815, and made her first appearance in Cinderella in 1890. Cinderella was 17 years old in 2024, and she got her own movie.

Snow White. Snow White was born in 1617, and made her first appearance in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. Snow White was 17 years old in 2024, and she got her own movie.
