How can I submit a proxy vote?
Send us a message anytime by clicking here, or visit the proxy page in our Help section. You will need the name and email address of the board member, along with a statement on why you are voting the way you're voting.
Can I update my proxy in the middle of the year? Yes, but it's a good idea to do this in advance. Make sure your voice is heard before you decide to sign a proxy that you don't feel is a strong choice - or one that won't make a difference to the outcome of the vote.
Is there something that goes against a proxy vote? The only thing we ask is that you think about why you are voting the way you are voting. If there's something that you shouldn't have voted for or voted yes for, we will try to ask you for an explanation at the election. You can tell us why you changed your mind once we announce the results. In some cases, we may change your vote.
Why does my vote count so much or so little? All votes come with one weighting: either 1, 2 or 3 votes for each individual. The number represents the strength of your position on the issue. So, the more votes you have, the stronger your position.
So, if you vote for a motion, it doesn't mean that the motion is already approved and can't be changed. It means the motion has a higher probability of becoming a motion of the council. It just takes more votes to get to this stage. And, if it's a motion that is not selected by an even number of votes, we will be forced to change it at least down to a motion that has an odd number of votes - so that at least one of the communities can be represented in the council.
You can see how your positions appears above. We have tried something new this year, where a suggestion is scored as a 0/1/2/3. This doesn't affect your vote's strength or the total tally on a motion at all, but it means that if you are only supporting a motion, then you also get a lower score. This may not always apply, but we have done this mainly to encourage more support, as resounding a yes count as possible.
What is proxy voting?
Proxy voting is a system of indirect voting used in the Democratic Society for many years. Today, it is common to vote without using the official buttons at the voting place and leave the formal button under some cover. In the case of elections, the person who is responsible for the arrangement of the election questions him about what to do (vote) on the absentee paper.
How does a proxy request work? In normal cases, you can request your proxy from the Election Commission by filling out this form. The Council of Voters will choose the voting school that will send us, and the elected people will be sent to the designated place. You as a volunteer will vote as an initial process.
When we return to the College, and the final process (vote) is completed, we will receive information on how to verify the ballot. You can read further information about verification here.
What is the closest Sports Center and public facilities? You can officially visit the premises for the Summer Day Education Senior School, Hinode Sports Center at the Airport of University of Ibaraki from 08.30 on the day.
