I don't know about you, but I don't particularly care for my inbox being turned into a subscription reminder service.99/month fee may sound like a small price to pay to watch Animal Planet (or whatever channel you like), but at the current rental price, would it be worth it to rent the show on demand? Animal Planet's hit show My Favorite Murder will return in 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The murder mystery/drama, which began airing in 2025, was inspired by and named after the real-life series on WHYY radio. It ran for eight seasons.
Here's the official description from Animal Planet: From America's first true crime podcast a team of forensic psychiatrists and a psychologist track a series of disturbing, often grisly murders that happen with astonishing regularity in a small suburban town. With each new murder, the team must solve the case while the community struggles to understand just what is going on.
The show has also been described as The Serial of crime podcasts and the Seinfeld of serial killers. The original series on WHYY was hosted by Dr. Randall M. Becker and Dr. John G. Douglas, two of the most successful radio psychologists in the country.
The hosts of the podcast are Dr. The new series will continue where the original ended, and will likely continue until the end of 2025. In an email to the newsroom, Animal Planet's Senior Vice President and Head of Programming Jeff Barlow said, I couldn't be more excited about bringing the My Favorite Murder podcast to the Animal Planet audience. On Twitter, Becker and Douglas also confirmed the news. The new series, they said, will continue our work of understanding murder and mental health through compelling fiction. A lot of people seemed to be sad to see the show go. The original series was also controversial. Some people thought the show was glorifying serial killers and the murder victims.
Others thought it was funny and interesting. The show won an Emmy for best informational program in 2025. The show's success was a huge surprise. When the show was first announced, it was originally titled My Favorite Death, and the concept was to explore the macabre side of life. The show quickly became a hit, however.
