Is Google Nest hub a digital photo frame?
I know that this is not related to mobile photography, but I have an Android device and a Google Home speaker that can take photos in the dark.
When I use the camera button on my phone, only black and white images seem to work well. I would like to know if it possible to have Google play home view my digital camera roll and show me my images, just like any photo frame would do. Or would the only way be to manually add each image to the camera roll?
Nest is simply smart display. What you describe is the default way how Google displays camera photos on their mobile phones and tablets. You don't really need a Nest hub to do this. (With the exception of the picture on the top right corner of the home display.)
You can download a very basic app from the Google Play store that gives you the option of viewing your photo's. I think it's the "Camera Roll" app for your device.
If you don't feel like having a Nest hub as a display, then you are going to have to do more than download the simple photo viewer app. Once you open your photos on the Google Nest hub and you will see your Camera Roll.
From the settings, set the time when the camera will not update and click ok and start playing the videos recorded when you set it last time. There is this thing called Timer, the setting is there under the Home tab.
After reading the comments and trying to use it for a day, I am no longer interested in using it. My old digital camera does the same exact thing and I've been wanting an inexpensive home photo frame for some time now, and I have never been happier. Thanks to the comments here.
I use a Canon PowerShot SX50IS & have had no problems with it since 2025. Recently I upgraded my PC and the camera needed new drivers. After spending the hours downloading, installing and configuring I found the camera no longer had the option to import pictures from my camera roll.
I contacted Canon and I was told I needed to buy a new cable to connect the camera to my computer. Why I still had the option to use my USB cable, I don't know. I don't have a clue what they mean with the "new cable".
