What QR code means?

QR codes consist of a QR code, the name of a product or service, and often, a short description.

A picture of an actual QR code appears when a smartphone scanner is activated. Clicking on that picture automatically calls up the item's website and a video guide, if one is available, as illustrated below.

QR codes are very helpful for consumers and businesses who want to interact with their audiences outside of social networks and other digital platforms. QR codes allow for immediate interaction as they can connect users with an item immediately instead of leaving them to read about it, watch a commercial or even read a whole article on their smartphone. QR codes can create awareness through social media and blogs without having to leave an audience member completely behind.

Because of their easy implementation, QR codes can be seen popping up everywhere. Businesses frequently use QR codes to direct customers to their websites. Some QR codes can even act as coupons. QR codes are also commonly used to send out coupons through mobile apps like Groupon and Living Social. When coupled with social media tools, QR codes have become extremely popular for companies to send out marketing messages as well as provide immediate contact with their customers.

As QR codes become more popular, new applications are popping up daily. To see if your favorite applications have a QR code integration, go to the app store and scan the bar code on your phone or tablet, then press Search for apps, as shown in the image below.

Why use QR codes? There are several benefits of using QR codes for marketing campaigns, including: Creating awareness about your services or products. I've been using QR codes for a couple of years now, but I often wondered if the code could be read without a dedicated app.

I've tested this with: a QR reader on my smartphone. A web browser. A QR code printed on paper and scanned by a tablet. The old fashioned scan to save method (you know, using the scanner on your smartphone). In short, no, you can't read a QR code without an app. This post is more about the apps that work than the ones that don't, and it will focus mostly on the Android world. QR readers. On Android, there are several options: NFC readers/writers: There are two classes of NFC readers/writers: The first is simple, and just connects your smartphone to the reader. They usually have a blue light to indicate that they are connected to something, and will display a message on the screen. This type is useful if you want to make sure you don't read an NFC tag by mistake.

Do you want to have this web page available for all the users on your smartphone? It's easy to add it! How does it work? In mobile, scanning is done by a dedicated application. You have some choices: You can directly launch the scanner, or you can launch the web browser and go to the URL you provided.

If you are not familiar with mobile applications, the application in itself offers many options: The web page is displayed on the screen of your smartphone (image or text).
