How do I retrieve voice memos from my iPad?

Where does voice memos save on iPad?

When I was writing for iPhone and iPad, the voice recording app I used would use a certain amount of disk space (or rather, how much disk space is free) available to that phone before it begins recording. Sometimes, I had to wait minutes before I could continue. This wasn't particularly a problem since it seemed there were only so many hours in a day.

When I wrote for desktop, however, I did some research in preparation for my writing work and it seems the situation is different. Apparently, with desktop, you have to manage your time as well as your disk space - so I'll have to see if Voice Memos can be made to work on Mac or will require a web app instead.

I wonder too: do they sell their own servers at MacMall? Or does it depend on where you are? It may not even save on their own servers - they still might be going with Google and using their own disks for the storage. @Andrew: Voice Memos itself would be the server and the disk space would be on Apple's system (at least in theory). I don't remember exactly but I think Apple will let you purchase (even temporarily) more than 1GB (at least, they probably only allow you to purchase it per month).

I was able to do 20 minutes on Mac OS X 10.5 when I used an iPad 2. With Windows 7 on the Mac Pro, I can do anywhere from 5-20 minutes per call depending on the sound quality. I believe Windows is optimized for sound when recording. I don't want to spend too much time on this, as we have quite a busy schedule, but when my wife, son, niece and I get together to sit around the TV with our iPads (I don't like to sit around and watch tv anymore, I want to work more, but my son and niece want to play or watch cartoons and my wife usually takes her iPad and goes on the net), we try to record ourselves talking about current events, movies, books, etc. It makes for a nice way to pass the time.

I used Voice Memo Pro on the iPhone & 2G, then switched to iMore Notes (free, very simple, easy to use) on the 3GS.

How do I retrieve voice memos from my iPad?

I have an iPad2 and when I put ear phones on it all of the voice mails start sounding like I have headphones on. How do I fix this problem so I can hear my voice mails? I don't want to disable the voice feature and I already asked a tech if there was any way to make sure the voice mails go through to my phone but they never heard of such a thing and now this. Please help. It is very annoying.

The audio on the iPod touch is handled by an internal mic; you need to mute it if you want to listen to your voice mails on the iPad. You can also play music (or other audio that uses the audio output) in the background. You should be able to do that from your iPhone as well, but I'm not certain.

To turn the iPhone's audio input off, hold the power button for about ten seconds (it may blink red) until the screen says you can't longer use the device. To turn the iPod's on, hold down the Home and Sleep buttons on the side until you reach the iPod menu. For the iPod touch, holding the Sleep/Wake button down will just open up the screen you're seeing now.

How do I find my voice recordings?

I just started using the service, and I would like to be able to find my voice recordings.

Is there a way to search for your voice recordings? It would be great to have a link to your most recent voice recording, or a list of all the voice recordings you have.

Hi there! When you first log into the service you'll be prompted to sign in. You will need to enter your username and password. If you haven't set up a username and password yet, you can click 'sign up' on the top right of the page.

The voice recordings you create are accessible on your account page in the section called 'voice recordings'. In the 'voice recordings' section, you'll be able to see a list of all your voice recordings. You can also click on a voice recording to listen to it.

In order to view your voice recordings, you'll need to link your Google account to the app. You can link an existing Google account or create a new one. When you link your account, you'll be prompted to choose which Google services you want to link ('Google Apps', 'Google Photos' or 'Google Drive').

You can find more information about linking accounts here. When you've linked your account, you'll be able to access your voice recordings.

Where are recordings saved on iPad?

The only option that works for me is using the 'iTunes' app.

All music downloaded from the iTunes store gets saved to the iTunes app, and then synced to my iPad (or other devices using the 'iCloud' service). If you connect your iPad to a computer, iTunes will show you the available devices to sync to and it will let you 'share' an existing song on your computer to your iPad if you want. This works fine if you only want to listen to one song at a time - but it can be tricky if you want to listen to something on your laptop, and then something on your iPad. If you want to listen to something on your iPad, but don't want to take out your laptop, or vice versa.

You can do this by manually doing it in iTunes (as I said), but I found the same method from a fellow blogger worked for me, as shown here: As shown in the screen shot above, I used the method below to get the song I wanted to listen to on my iPad: 1) Go to the 'Devices' tab (next to where the 'Music' tab is) on iTunes. 2) Click on the song you want to play. 3) Go to the 'Sharing' tab. 4) In the 'Options' section (it says 'Add this song to') - add your iPad to this list. 5) Click 'Done'. 6) Now you can listen to the song on your iPad, without worrying about missing out on the latest song by Taylor Swift (what, no joke!). I use an iPod Touch (which costs around 60, but is great for this purpose) but it's good to know that I have the option of listening to songs on my iPad with or without the need to have an iPad in the first place.
