Can I watch Amazon Prime rent on my phone on my TV?

Here's what I've done. I've set up a Wi-Fi hotspot with an Apple TV. On my HDTV, opened the Amazon Prime App and clicked on the TV Icon.99.
The App lets you play Amazon TV on your mobile device. You can watch movies or browse for TV shows from a variety of categories (Action, Drama, etc.)
Once you find the movie or TV show you want to watch, there's a "Play" button below it. When I press this, it takes me to the "watch" section where the movie or show plays. There is no progress bar while the show or movie plays. No pausing/fast forward is available on the phone screen.
Once the movie or show is over, the app closes itself, and I can't find the program again. I have to delete the App on my phone and re-install it.

In all of the above steps, my phone connects to the Apple TV as a Wi-Fi Hotspot via the Apple router. Hi! So many people are having a similar issue. My only experience was to download Netflix on my iPad, launch the movie on the TV, pause it. When you return to your tablet, it should be paused again. This did not work on my computer.

Hello - I tried a couple times using the Google Chromecast and got it to work. The first couple of times I tried I wasn't connected to the Internet so it wasn't working. However, I eventually was able to stream a video from Google Drive, which worked.
