Why does my iPhone say it's connected to Wi-Fi but won't work?

Why is my iPad not responding to the internet?

You've got an iPad and it's working fine, downloading emails, taking pictures and playing Angry Birds.

But every now and then your iPad is completely disconnected from the internet.

What causes this to happen? There are a couple of things you might check: Do your devices connect to the same wireless network or do they connect to different networks? (This is the most common problem we see. If you've got two devices in different locations with their own Wi-Fi connections, you may run into problems connecting to one or both devices.)

If they're both on the same Wi-Fi network, make sure that they're both connected to the same network. If one device can't get through to the internet, there's almost always something stopping it (eg, your home network has firewalls, parental controls or other security issues, or the modem/router doesn't support access to the internet).

Does the Wi-Fi signal reach your iPad? You can easily test this by moving your device farther away from the router or accessing a different Wi-Fi network. If the signal is stronger when your device is plugged into the wall, then you've got some trouble that needs to be addressed.

Is your device using the latest firmware and software? Have you updated the firmware to the latest version? When you connect your iPad to your computer, is it using the same version of iTunes as you did when you first setup the device? Does the latest version of iOS have a security patch applied that should be installed? What if your device can't even get through to the Wi-Fi networks? It could be that a security device in your home or company network is blocking access to the Internet (such as your home security system, parental control software or workplace's internal network). This happens rarely but it's important to check.

What if my iPad seems disconnected even though it's connected to the Wi-Fi network? If you haven't opened up any webpages on the tablet, this could also be a security issue. Again, you can test the connection to a known Wi-Fi network and be sure you've got no security issues.

Why is my iPad connected to the Wi-Fi but still not working?

I recently bought a new WiFi printer with Bluetooth chip from Canon. It's connected through the Apple Airport Express, and all the settings are set on its own. The printer works well with my laptop and an iPod Touch, but it has no connection to my iPad (3rd gen). Why is this happening? I have checked every setting to connect the iPad, and the iPad does recognise the printer when I plug it into the wall, so that isn't the problem. I tried connecting another printer through the Airport Express and was able to print at last so it can't be my printer. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Why is my tablet not connecting to Wi-Fi but other devices will?

My tablet (Xenon XL with Cyanogenmod 10) has been unable to connect to the internet for the last day or two. Wi-Fi is listed as enabled on it, and it connects to my laptop just fine. It connects to Wi-Fi without issue at home and at a friend's house, but we're at an Apple store, and the tablet can't connect to the Wi-Fi there either. Both Wi-Fi and 3G are enabled, and all the other devices on the network can connect to the wireless network just fine.

Wi-Fi is listed as enabled on the Settings -> More -> Connections screen in Android. I've rebooted it several times, but the problem persists. We're about to switch to another wireless access point and see if that fixes the problem.

Have you tried manually turning it on? Maybe if you toggle it on/off while your device is connected it will come back on. If you just leave it on there should be a "Manage Profiles" option, or similar, where you could select a specific wifi connection. This is not always a permanent solution though.

Try "Settings -> More -> Airplane Mode" - this turns off all wireless connections - including Wifi so that it may stop trying to connect to something which it may not support at that moment. Theoretically this "forces" it to connect to a different AP. Note that if you have no network connection when this is disabled you wont get an error message - so if you had Wifi enabled but it was unresponsive, you'd need to connect using other means to ensure you were up-to-date before disabling Wifi.

It might be useful to see what your router reports by going to your web browser and entering the IP address of the router. Make sure you go to the right address, as routers often don't use the name as its IP address, instead giving it a number - often ending in "1".

If you're able to go to the router directly you'll be able to tell the service provider if there's some sort of problem, or if they may be able to help. You'll also probably see if the router itself is having issues.

It could also be worth checking that the Ethernet cable connecting your router to the modem/switch is working.

Why does my iPhone say it's connected to Wi-Fi but won't work?

I've been having a problem with my iPhone since I upgraded to iOS 11.

My iPhone refuses to connect to Wi-Fi networks. It displays "No Signal" as the network name instead of the real name. The icon in the status bar switches between the "Wi-Fi Connected" and "No Signal". It happens when I'm at home as well as in the coffee shop where I've been working. I can connect to my home network and another 3G network that uses AT&T's 4G service, but not to Wi-Fi networks. I don't see anything in settings to turn on or off the Wi-Fi on or off my iPhone. How do I fix this?

Re: ? If you're using the AT&T network, your iPhone is using a SIM card that was sold on AT&T contracts and activated to that carrier. Your iPhone likely needs a new SIM card because the original one isn't in service with AT&T anymore.

When switching carriers, your iPhone will continue to use its SIM card unless you request that the IMEI be changed. Quote: Originally Posted by G2K. You haven't switched carriers yet, have you? I have the AT&T SIM on my phone, if that's the problem, and it hasn't worked in months. Ok I thought I was wrong about the SIM card but everything is telling me otherwise. First, my contract with AT&T runs out September 28 so I need to purchase a new SIM card. I just went through the process and put in a new Simcard and there was no message on the screen which I expected. Next, the Network shows as No Network Name. Third, my Apple ID isn't associated with this SIM Card and it keeps asking me for that. I'm really stumped so I need help.
