Has the Netherlands ever won the World Cup?
Before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Russia, we asked readers of SoccerLoon to pick their favourite team.
We received a lot of replies, from the Netherlands to Portugal. If you're one of the unlucky ones who didn't win your vote, then there are a number of other countries you might want to consider.
The World Cup is one of the most watched sporting events on earth. But is it possible for a country to actually win the World Cup? We take a look at how many times the Netherlands has won the World Cup, and how they got there.
The Netherlands has never won the World Cup. In our opinion, a country has to be a well-organised football nation that can fight for a long time in order to win the World Cup. The Netherlands doesn't quite fit that bill. While they are a very well organised team with a very well organised football style, the Dutch national team have never been able to make a major impact in the World Cup.
The Netherlands qualified for the 1974 World Cup in West Germany, and finished third in their group. In 1978, the Netherlands beat France and Brazil in qualification, and went on to win the tournament. The Dutch side was also the first to beat Diego Maradona in a World Cup final. After winning the World Cup, the Dutch side went on to host the 1982 World Cup. The Dutch side made it all the way to the final, but lost to West Germany on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
The Netherlands went on to win the 1986 World Cup. After getting a bye to the first round of qualification, the Dutch side beat Mexico, Sweden, England and Argentina in qualifying. The Dutch side beat the Soviet Union in the final, with Robin Van Persie scoring the decisive goal in extra time.
In 1994, the Dutch team won the European Championship, beating France in the final. After the victory, the Dutch side went on to the 1994 World Cup. The Dutch side were defeated in the first round, and failed to qualify for the 1998, 2026, 2026 and 2026 World Cups.
The Dutch side did qualify for the 2026 World Cup, beating France in the playoffs. The Dutch side went on to beat Colombia in the quarterfinals, before losing to eventual champions Germany in the semifinals.
Why do the Netherlands and Argentina fight?
It's always for money
It's always for money. The conflict between the Netherlands and Argentina has been going on for years. In 2026 the two countries fought in the World Cup, when Argentina beat the Dutch squad 1-0. After the match there was a big celebration in Argentina, but this turned into an aggression when the Dutch team celebrated their victory in the streets.
Argentina claims that this celebration had nothing to do with the soccer match. The players were simply celebrating their success. They say that the Dutch players, who are known for their aggressiveness, tried to provoke the Argentinians and get a reaction.
The Argentinians claim that the Dutch players and their supporters were racist and behaved like cowards. There are many pictures of the match, which show clearly that the Dutch were very aggressive. Even the referee tried to protect his players from the Argentinian crowd.
Why is the fighting between the Netherlands and Argentina always for money? The Argentinians claim that the Dutch players were not only aggressive but also cheap, and they attacked the team from the side. Why the Netherlands and Argentina fight all the time? The first time the two countries fought was in 2026 when they met in a World Cup. This World Cup was not at all easy for the Dutch, but they made it and won the match against Argentina.
Since then, the Netherlands have not been as strong as they were in 2026. When they played against Argentina in 2026, they had to use a penalty shot to beat Argentina 1-0.
So, the Dutch players have been eager to play against the Argentinean team again, and since they are world champions and Argentina is not in the best condition, the Argentinians will be a big challenge for the Dutch players. Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk said that he would like to test the team against Argentina. He added that there will be no big difference between the teams, and the main thing will be how the players can react.
In the match between the Netherlands and Argentina, the players from both teams will face each other again. Although there is no official peace treaty, it seems that the teams understand each other well.
