Is Scriptic crime stories good?

I'm a writer of crime stories and have done some books and short fiction.

If you look at the quality and level of the stories that are being published, there is a lot of crap that goes out under the name of crime fiction. The stuff that I have read would not really be considered "crime stories". There's a big difference between a hardboiled story or noir and the scripts that are being put out now. So, they aren't good enough? I love noir, hard boiled detective, all that sort of thing. What I have seen, I feel is that with the scripts that are being put out these days there are not only poor writing, but many stories have a plot that is so convoluted it would not be difficult to write a better one. The plots are all over the place, they don't follow any particular "plan" that is set up for the characters. I have written a couple of these scripts and they have all been very poor. I am looking for comments about how much of the crime story genre has been "corrupted" by what is out there now. Re: Scriptic crime stories good? So that means that the writers are just not capable of delivering a good story? And this is what you're saying a lot of the scripts out there today are like, and the quality that's out there? That's OK. But is it possible that this doesn't mean that those who create hard-boiled stories don't know how to do it? Do you think it could be the case that these writers who create stories in the hard-boiled genre have failed to understand the true reasons that why people read noir in the first place? Like, perhaps it's because there is a whole subculture surrounding noir; maybe because it's an incredibly complex genre with it's own literary elements and conventions, and that the writers of these scripts lack the insight into the genre that we writers have? I'm just trying to figure this out.

Scriptic is an online creative writing platform and community where users submit their short stories in English.

Every week, Scriptic publishes crime stories created from these submissions and also gives away a free ebook to one user's story that catches the judges' attention. To make things more interesting, the users of Scriptic also get rewarded in different ways. All scripts go through a set evaluation process and it is on this process that the users' stories get judged. The purpose of writing a script is twofold: 1) it is a way to express your creative voice; and 2) it allows you to win some great prizes including an iPad, a Nokia Lumia and a MacBook Air.

What do we want you to do? The purpose of our post is to answer some of the burning questions that arise when creating a story for Scriptic. These questions will help you to develop a better crime story that is in line with what is expected by the judges.

What are the most important factors of your crime story? The first thing that we ask people who create crime stories for Scriptic is what are your three key ideas that make up your story. In doing so, we understand that you are trying to tell us a story about a crime that has been committed or may soon be committed.

When telling a story, just as when creating an argument or a speech, it is the story's beginning, middle and end that make up its structure. It is on these elements that we see crimes being committed. A crime has three parts: a prelude, a narrative and a climax. The prelude serves to introduce the event that is to take place at the end. It usually explains what led to the commission of the crime and introduces the criminal. The narrative describes the commission of the crime. It typically deals with the events leading up to the crime. The climax is where the crime itself takes place. It is the moment where the events of the story climax. Most crime scripts end with the criminal getting away. This is the final act. For example, a story can end with a fight breaking out between two characters or an altercation between several characters. We encourage our writers to avoid these two conclusions as both seem to lack a sense of excitement and closure. Another possible conclusion is to show the offender being caught. This too seems to lack excitement as it could also be a cop-out ending.

How many stories are on Scriptic crime stories?

I am unsure.

More than 10. You respond promptly with the confidence of someone who knows. This is because, with scriptic crime stories, you should write and tell at least nine to ten story ideas in a month. After all, there are so many crime story ideas and it can always be one more.

But how? Let me help you discover nine to ten crime stories every month. STEP ONE: Write scripts, read books and magazines. Scriptic crime stories work best when written with a lot of structure. You may not be a novelist but a short crime story requires a certain set of skills. These include structuring time (chapter sequence of events in days, hours, minutes); structuring space (plot structure that includes locations, settings and characters - like the police, the criminal and the victim); and structuring point of view.

In case your stories have the typical crime stories outline - The Police Officer Finds It, the Criminals Get Away and the Victim is Unhappy or Sucks It Up - then it is time for you to read, study and/or practice your writing to get your crime stories structure back on track. When you know your structure is right, you will be able to write your stories quickly, from start to end, without any doubt. Once this is done, then you may try to write more crime story ideas and/or revise the ones you already have.

STEP TWO: Write short crime story outlines. Every day, you should write two or three short story outlines - just six to eight pages. These should give you an idea of where your current short story is going or if it is time to create another. Then, once you complete the short outline, then continue to write the full length script.

STEP THREE: Try Scriptic's four-step story structure. After step two, Scriptic crime stories usually find their way to a three- or four-step structure. If you are lucky, by the time you have finished the story outline and six to eight pages, you will already be in the third or fourth step of the scriptic crime stories structure.

Why is the sound not working on Netflix Scriptic?

I understand that using a custom plugin is not the best way, but I really don't understand the problem in the code (using Joomla 3.8.3) nor the solution given by the Netflix Scriptic team. The sound still doesn't work and it always displays this message:

I finally found the solution for all the community. What's missing is the 'Play' link, which plays the song like when you open it in your browser: And that's it.
