How to install GeoTrust SSL certificate?

Hello!

I would like to install a GeoTrust SSL certificate on my web server. I have followed your instructions and tried with the default settings. When I browse my site through www.geotrust.com, it says the connection is secured. It asks me for my SSL pin. But if I enter the pin, it does not return any results. I know the pin is correct because I copied it from the certificate and when I test it through it works fine. Can you please help me?
Thanks. Regards. Well I'm not sure what version of Apache you are using, but this was resolved in your previous question. The error you are receiving from GeoTrust could possibly be due to Apache having no way to authenticate against the site that isn't working. You may try doing some basic troubleshooting to figure out what's wrong.

Try using the site that gives you the incorrect warning to check your Apache config and see if you have any redirects that might be preventing the information coming back from GeoTrust. Also, you can try logging in with the browser directly and see if you get the "secure connection" warning for any of the sites as well. You're asking a few questions, so just to clarify, what Apache version are you using? I've had this issue before and it was caused by the apache rewrite module (on windows) which rewrites the URL to itself. You may want to check it.

Google's blog says that "Digicert and GeoTrust are both certificate authorities from Comodo".

If the blog actually says anything, it should say that they are not the same entity, in that neither of them holds any of the other's (Comodo's) certificates.

See the blog entry for further details: And also, Digicert appears to be a reseller of the certificate authority. What is the difference between Comodo and GeoTrust SSL?

Comodo (www.comodo.com) was acquired by EIG in 2025.

Comodo was one of the first to offer a multi-level "multi-domain" cert with different levels of trust depending on the type of traffic. You could use the same certificate for a website, a web application, and even an entire domain without having to buy multiple certificates.

This flexibility has been widely adopted, and is perhaps the biggest reason it is one of the most-used security solutions available today. It used to be free to purchase, but a paid version (with more features) is now available.

GeoTrust's (geotrust.com) focus is on high performance for organizations that are concerned about their security.

Both Comodo and GeoTrust offer a single level of SSL encryption, which has the benefit of being simple and requiring less storage. They also do not have unlimited domains or subdomains.

The main difference is that Comodo lets you manage multiple SSL certificates in one system using the multi-level MultiDomain option. If you have a business that has more than a single website on your domain, this is a great solution. We had Comodo setup on both of our businesses and ran into problems with their multi-domain functionality.

GeoTrust does not allow you to manage multiple SSL certificates one site using their "Multivendor" mode. Instead, each certificate would need to be separately purchased to provide the level of protection you desire. We did some testing and found that GeoTrust certs were much more expensive in the end.

Both Comodo and GeoTrust have a wide range of pricing plans based on how many devices you're protecting with SSL encryption, whether you want to use an SSL accelerator, support multiple domain names, etc. Both companies also sell certificates for your internal network. Both Comodo and GeoTrust will also cover you with the new PCI DSS rules and regulations if you're running your own servers or payment processing infrastructure.

Comodo is one of the few certs that allows you to revoke certificates and invalidate them.
