How do I get rid of McAfee Safe Connect notification?

Why can't my McAfee VPN connect?

Hello.

I have a couple of Dell Latitude XT's. One works without problems, but the other is unable to connect to our VPN server. I can't find any errors or anything when I run the McAfee program. (it also shows as installed but not configured or something) It says it's scanning for malware but nothing is coming up.

My first guess is they are infected with something. Then I'm stuck since this isn't possible to scan through.

The VPN client will display that when it starts up and that happens on my Windows 7 machine also so I really don't know what it's supposed to do. In the end the VPN does work after installing it several times, but not in the middle of being connected to it. McAfee support did not know what to make of it either since there are no messages left anywhere as well and they couldn't even connect to their own VPN to find out about this. Re: ? I use "mahncafee client for desktop" I had the same problem until I just updated it today it works fine after that.

How do I get rid of McAfee Safe Connect notification?

Answer.

McAfee has partnered with most of the top software vendors to offer virus scanning to their software. Because of this, McAfee usually offers very good discounts if you are already using a certain vendor, or even all their products. This discount could vary anywhere from 50-90% off the retail price. In my opinion, this is usually where they see their business model at. Some people hate this, because it really does force you into McAfee's products for more of the products they offer. However, the other side of the coin is, if you were never going to buy another McAfee product, McAfee would have to actually charge full price, because nobody would buy anything else.

So you want to avoid the McAfee Safe Connect notification by avoiding their product line. For people who have used McAfee products in the past, chances are there is a discount code that can be entered into their Safe Connect web site. This will prompt you to enter in your current McAfee subscription details and once you have that information, you will then be prompted to enter in a few bits of info about the software you wish to use. The important piece is the subscription level as well as the product line (ie McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2009). Once you have everything entered, and if you are on a newer version than the last few versions, you should receive an email which notifies you that your subscription or purchase has been approved. You'll need to login, enter the order number (which they can help you remember) and click "I Accept".

If for whatever reason, you do not get the email saying that your order was accepted and you are now ready to login, please contact them and let them know why you never received it (eg spam filter). Once you have received your order confirmation, just follow the on-screen instructions from there on out. Your email confirmation should also contain a web link which when you visit it should allow you to log-in to SafeConnect.net.

Why do I have McAfee Safe Connect on my computer?

Is it a good anti-virus product?

Answer: McAfee Safe Connect was designed for the small business, but has features that are useful to the home user. McAfee Safe Connect has the standard detection rate of 94.3 percent, so it's not too far behind McAfee, Norton and other leading brands. With a few exceptions, most viruses cannot infect Safe Connect (because it is protected). However, Safe Connect does have some issues when it comes to stopping malicious code in the form of worms, Trojan Horses or viruses. To protect its customers from Internet threats, Microsoft recommends that all computers have McAfee Safe Connect installed on them. You can buy the Safe Connect package directly from McAfee in most locations and from eScan online, as well.

McAfee offers a number of value-added products designed for the small business or home user. McAfee Small Business Security Suite allows small business employees to protect their businesses from viruses. Each of these products has an entry fee and a monthly fee, but they are worth the investment to you, the consumer, if you want to go to the next level. If you want to protect your computer, the single-installation fee of McAfee antivirus would probably be the best choice, but if you need to protect your employees, then Small Business Security Suite is the way to go. Home users who want something simple with fewer bells and whistles should look at McAfee Safe Connect. It will still keep you protected, without much hassle.

Safe Connect requires you to install a small driver on your PC that makes a call to McAfee each time the computer reboots. If you have problems with reboot errors, this is the reason. If you find yourself running Safe Connect repeatedly, and then have a hard time identifying where the cause of the problem is, this is why. When you get infected by a virus, Safe Connect will detect it and protect the computer. The Safe Connect installer only contains the minimum amount of files necessary to operate, and if the installation fails, Safe Connect will uninstall. That is, Safe Connect works fine as long as you don't install malware. McAfee offers Safe Connect on CDs for free to PC Magazine readers. We think you'd like it, too. If you are ready to take a chance and install Safe Connect, you can download the CD here.
