Why does my Netflix keep going black with sound?
Hi, I'm a new user on this forum, and even though I'm not sure how to get my issue fixed, maybe someone will be able to give me an idea of what to try.
I've tried a couple of times but the problem is that I have sound when my movie starts playing but then the sound cuts out and for about a minute my video is completely silent with black over it. I know I can find my video through the drop down menu but when I select it, the picture is still black until the movie plays. Then as soon as it starts playing I get the audio back.
I can't remember if my video player software was set up to work with Netflix, but I know that there are two screens. One where I watch my videos, and one where I play games and surf the web. This happened when I first started playing on Netflix. I have tried playing on both of my monitors separately, but nothing has worked so far.
I also tried a different video player, and it did the same thing. I can tell you about the last video player we used before Netflix, because it works fine on our other TVs. That video player was able to keep sound during video playback.
It's only one of our systems, so I don't really know what else to try. Is this the right place to ask for help with this? I checked the help pages and it looks like I've got all the info I need to get the answer I'm looking for. If not, could someone point me to the right place for help? Thanks in advance.
I'm going to check it out just now. Quote: Originally posted by garycannady
Why is my Netflix not showing any pictures?
Sometimes, your Netflix will show you an empty screen for no apparent reason.
It's a problem that affects many of us, and we're here to solve it.
I know there are a lot of you out there reading this who are trying to figure out why their Netflix is having issues, and I'm here to help. I want to talk about why the issue happens, what causes it, and how to fix it in case you're experiencing the same issue. Why Your Netflix Doesn't Show Any Pictures. When Netflix went from DVDs to streaming, the entire Netflix experience changed for us. Instead of having to go to the movie store and make a DVD appointment, Netflix became an app where we could get all the movies we wanted instantly and conveniently.
This convenience, however, comes with its own set of challenges. Netflix has changed since it switched over from DVDs to streaming, but I want to address the three main reasons why your Netflix is showing you an empty screen.
My Netflix Is Not Working I Was Watching Shows I Wasn't Listening To. What's the first thought that goes through your mind when you realize your Netflix isn't working? How long have I been watching shows I wasn't listening to? If that's the case, I'm sorry to tell you that you're going to have to start from scratch. The main reason for not having Netflix working is because you weren't actually listening to your shows or not paying attention while you were watching. If you just kept watching without stopping to see what was playing, you probably aren't going to have Netflix working anytime soon.
One thing to note is that if you were listening to something (such as music) and then decided to switch over to Netflix, your streaming probably won't continue. Your audio will be switched over to Netflix, and it may start playing for a minute or two, but once you turn off your music, you'll be back to square one.
Netflix is not always 100% reliable with this problem, but it's still probably the most common one.
Why is my TV screen black but I have sound?
I've tried changing resolution to 1600 x 900 but the problem still occurs.
I am using a Acer Aspire 7500 laptop. Also the sound icon on the taskbar has a tiny black box over it. Everything worked fine before this last problem arose. Could someone please help me?
When you go to change your video resolution (Settings > Video and Audio > Resolution) and go to the "System Requirements" tab for your selected resolution, make sure you turn on the "Display Modes" section. In Windows 8/8.1, on my PC, you would click on the icon that looks like a magnifying glass. From there, check on the "Display Modes" section and you should see your settings:
"Normal" - The maximum video resolution for a display set by the manufacturer. This is usually the highest resolution display for a monitor, though a monitor may support other, higher resolution modes as well.
"High Definition" - A high-definition video mode which supports pixel doubling. Pixel doubling is a technique which allows a display to produce more screen area, often resulting in higher apparent resolutions for the computer user. This can result in higher pixel density, which can be useful when viewing things like photos. Pixel doubling can also be used to increase the apparent brightness and clarity of an image (see pixel binning). HDTV's work differently from standard TVs, and so may require support drivers or special software to enable the doubling of the pixels for your screen. The maximum resolution is 1920x1080. You may or may not get to choose "4k." Instead of 1920x1080 and/or 4k (which is 4096x2160), which is 4 times higher resolution), the choice of these options is dependent upon your GPU and the amount of RAM available. In some cases, you may get the choice of only 1-3 displays. If your computer sees that you have more than 1 display attached, it may pick the default resolution, or else the one attached to your main display.
If there is no "High definition" option available to you, then the only option you'll get will be "Normal." You cannot have both.
If you don't see any option at all, you may need to install additional driver support and/or check the BIOS for a setting to control what resolutions are allowed.
Why are my videos black with audio?
There are ways to change the settings for subtitles.
Please note that you have to pay for the subscription on the same page you see when starting the video. After the page loads and a black screen appears the first time, the video will start working normally.
Some videos might be blocked or not available at all. You will see a message about that in your YouTube dashboard (under settings). In the case of streaming videos it is better to download the video first, even if it's only for temporary. It might take longer to play, but you should be able to watch it.
Sometimes, you need to make sure there is nothing running in the background. In these cases close all programs you opened and then use YouTube again. Also close those browsers such as YouTube that might still be open.
How do I get into the YouTube Android app? If you can't find it among the other apps and widgets, please try this method. If there are multiple YouTube tabs in your browser, press the back button from your Android phone to return to the home screen. To the right of the home screen, press menu and select Open or recent apps. Select YouTube app and select Select an App From Another App. In the next dialog, navigate to YouTube on the home screen, tap it to open, and then navigate to your videos (from here you should see them all in one tab).
