Can you get a passport in one day in NY?

I know it sounds like an odd question but, I have a friend who is trying to do just that and was wondering if anyone has ever done it.

Here's the scenario, I am in New York this week (2 days) and my wife and I want to go to Jamaica for a few days. My girlfriend and I are on a tight budget and we really want to take a trip but, can't afford to fly to Jamaica.

My wife is an American Citizen (not a green card holder) so she would not need to apply for a visa to enter Jamaica, right? We were thinking of trying to use a US Passport as a form of ID. What's your thoughts on this? I have heard that you need to stay in the USA for 3 months before applying for a passport. If that's the case, would we be able to simply rent a car and drive around the USA to make sure we have enough time? I know that's a silly idea but, this is one of those things that I've never thought of before.

I do not work for the government or any type of government agency, I just like to share information and give suggestions based on my experience. Also, I am not an expert on anything, I am just a guy with a computer and internet access. I am not an expert on this either, but I did visit Jamaica last year with a passport that I did not use on arrival. I arrived from the UK, left for the airport at 1:30pm, drove to the airport, checked in at the British Airways counter, took a taxi to the airport and flew to Kingston for a connecting flight to Montego Bay.

From a legal standpoint, I was correct to use my passport because I never landed in Jamaica as a non-citizen. However, it is not recommended by the Jamaican Tourist Board, or any other travel agency, that you use a passport that is not valid for entry into Jamaica. I got a similar warning from them, but I ignored it and they were happy to charge me, they simply charged me for two extra days and not for three months.

Can I get my passport on the same-day in the USA?

I know it can be done, because a friend of mine was able to do it. I want to do that too. Can you get your passport on the same-day?

Yes, you can get your passport on the same-day in the US without any problem, as you would have a normal passport photo in the next working day or in the next working week if it's an official holiday. But, it is necessary to have an exact address, otherwise they won't issue it. And you might not get your application done before the passport is ready, although if you just go to the office and say your name it should only take a couple of minutes.

Also, make sure that the information is valid, so that the passport can be completed within a few days and in the correct form. For example, if you lose your passport you might not get it back till after a year or more. That's why it's important to write down all the necessary information for your own safety.

Hi Hamed. It's always better to check the Canadian Department of Citizenship and Immigration official website to make sure of all these numbers and times. Usually, the wait time there is from about 1 to 6 months, but it depends on many factors.

I'd suggest you check it out first before deciding anything in case you need a fast service. Otherwise, at the moment there are no certain times or days.

You can't walk into New York City's passport agency.

It's not easy getting passports these days, but I was able to do it by phone.

Why am I getting my passport replaced? The photo on your passport has changed. You haven't asked for your old passport back and there's no excuse for replacing it. Go get a new one!

What is the quickest I can get a passport?

Is this true? Can I apply for a passport in less than one week? Yes, it's true. Two weeks is the average, but anything is possible, including a single day.

You can apply for a passport from any consulate worldwide. Most consulates are located in large cities, so it doesn't matter where you apply. Any Canadian can apply in Toronto, London, Paris, or Washington. Many European countries allow you to apply in their country's consulate, too, eg in France, you can apply in Paris. Some countries allow for special consulates, such as in the US, where you can apply at a US consulate in the city where you live. There may be additional fees, depending on how long it takes to process your application.

It could take a couple of days, but most likely not more than a week. If you have a valid passport, you can probably get a visa on a first visit. The visa process depends on what country you are traveling to. For example, in the EU it is a very easy process and you can get your visa within 24h. In other countries it can take more time and you might need to go back more than once.

When you arrive at your destination, then you will be asked to provide information about the purpose of your trip. If you want to travel within the EU for a month or more, you will be asked to provide information about your job (ie what exactly you do) and your business expenses (if you have any). This information is used to assess the situation and decide whether you need a visa or not. If you don't have enough information to answer these questions, you will be asked to apply for a visa on your first trip.
