How do I get the Apple ID verification code if I don't have another device?

Can you use the same phone number for multiple Apple ID accounts?

My husband and I recently updated our iPhones to the new iOS 10 software and, along with all the other new features, the number porting option is now available.

Previously, if you have multiple Apple IDs, you could get a separate phone number for each one and only be charged for the calls made from that number. However, I noticed that you cannot have multiple phone numbers with your old iPhone; all the numbers will automatically be forwarded to your main number even if that doesn't make sense.

Since we now have two new iPhones and two separate phone numbers, I was wondering if we would be able to use our existing Apple ID accounts to forward all of our calls to the number we designated for each device. I realize that this is not an ideal solution and one that most of my friends are using and are completely happy with, but were wondering if it's possible? I am curious if anyone else has tried this out. Maybe it does work as I know some people on the service that seem to still be able to do this Actually, there are many people that can only do this for business purposes. If you want to retain your existing phone number, your best bet is to use voicemail which I actually find quite useful as it's much better than regular voicemail in the sense that you can leave messages with caller ID attached or even set up multiple voicemails to go to a particular number.

No! I couldn't figure out how to do that either until I was able to find a support article that mentioned the voicemail setting and how to access it on your iPhone. Once I found that it was in my iPhone settings, the process was simple. There is even a walk-through here if you're stuck on what to do.

One thing to note: when I tested it, it took over an hour for the number changes to take effect, including going to Settings > Phone. So you might want to be patient here if you want to wait to see if it actually works.

It did work with my old iPhone though. When the forwarding had finally taken place I just had to re-forward every number to the phone number I set for it. Easy as pie.

There is an option in the phone settings that is called Automatically transfer new incoming calls to this number.

How can I recover my Apple ID if I don't have the same number?

For example: I have two Apple IDs.

One with Apple ID and one with email address. When I was working for Apple, I needed to enter a password to access the Apple ID. Now I'm at a different company and need to access my account to sync my iPhone. I already have my login details (my email address) but don't have the password.

For those who don't want to change their passwords, here is how you can use the old Apple ID. If you were to sign out of all your Apple devices, the old Apple ID would no longer be linked to your AppleID on Apple's servers. To get back into the old account, follow these steps: Go to your iPhone settings. Tap on "General." Tap on "Accounts and Identifiers." Tap on "Use Another Apple ID." Enter the email address that is associated with the old Apple ID. Enter your password. And that should do it!

Why won't my Apple ID let me verify my phone number?

You won't be able to verify your phone number with the Apple ID you use to sign in.

Sign in to your Apple ID on a device to which you already have access. (If you don't have access, then you can't sign in.)

Go to Settings. Tap Apple ID. Tap Add New Phone Number. Enter the phone number you want to add and tap Add. Verify your phone number by signing in to a device that you already have access to. Why does Apple's Settings list a wrong country for me? The device's country is defined by the location of your Apple ID's billing address. The Settings app lists this address as being the country of your iTunes Store billing address. However, this is not always the case. If the wrong country is listed for you, then it means that Apple sent the payment for your iTunes Store purchases to your billing address but did not update the Apple ID's billing country. To fix this, you must:
Select Apple ID > Payment & iTunes Store. Tap Add New Apple ID and enter your iTunes Store account information. Once you've added the correct country to your Apple ID's billing address, you can verify your phone number with the Apple ID you use to sign in. What do I do when my phone number verification doesn't work? When you enter your phone number into the phone number field of the Settings screen, a phone number verification code appears in the next box on the page. When you sign in to your Apple ID on a device that already has access to your Apple ID, then you should see the verification code. You need to enter the code and verify your phone number.

It may take up to a few minutes for the number to appear. What do I do when I can't add my new phone number to my Apple ID? When you're adding a phone number, the screen tells you: Enter the code below to verify your number. The number you entered will be verified by sending a text message containing a verification code. If you don't get the code, try entering the number again or contact Customer Support.

How do I get the Apple ID verification code if I don't have another device?

Apple sends a verification code via SMS to an iPhone, iPad or Mac.

To activate: On a device without iOS 11 or later, tap Settings > Notifications & Privacy > Send Password . On a device with iOS 11 or later, enter the code in the Enter Apple ID Password section. If you don't have an iOS 11 device, contact Apple support for help.

If you don't have an iOS 11 device, contact Apple support for help. After you register your Apple ID, you won't receive any more verification codes.
