Does Android have a location sharing app?

Yes!

Google has one and it is one of the key apps for an Android phone or tablet. Here are some snippets: Who can share my location with? When is my location shared with? What happens when my friends want to send me a location? That's not all you'll find in the settings. They are also found within the app itself. On the very top right there is an arrow that looks like this:

Click on it and you should see a menu that looks like this: Now click on the setting icon: Google is one of those apps that does a few things really well. I like that their "Share my location" is a bit more comprehensive than many others. It lists every person that can access your location, as well as if they are using their phone, tablet or if they can access your location only via the Internet (with a Google account) or have access to your location even when not connected to the Internet (when their device is connected but they are not signed in to their Google account). You can also add your best friends to this list if they are in your address book. That way you can easily check who is in your address book and who is your friend in real life (in addition to those you're already sharing location with). And while I'm at it, it is also much easier for me to do the same. The app will also show me which of my friends already shares my location with them. Like it automatically updates when I connect and disconnect to my WiFi.

How do I track a family member on Google Maps?

You're using the Google My Family tool and you want to track a family member's location or activities on Google Maps, but they're not using the service.

How can you find them on Google Maps or Google Earth? Tracking a specific Google user's location is easy to do, but it requires that the person you're tracking grant permission to share their exact location for a specific time period. You need to set up your own account on Google Maps in order to do this.

The Family Account is a new feature available on Google Maps that allows you to create a family account in order to track a specified user. Once you've created this Family Account, you can add up to 20 people to it. If you select that more than one person will be tracked at a time, all members are given a unique Family Account number.

Google Maps This feature is purely about logging that you're tracking a person on Google Maps and Google Earth, it's not a social or group collaboration tool. Family Accounts can also be used to find locations that belong to any of your members or friends who have already allowed you to track them. While any member can log into your Google account to see their Google Maps profile details, if you've created a family account and they haven't, they won't know anything about it.

Before you start tracking family members on Google Maps you'll need to head over to the Google Accounts page, which is found within the Settings menu on the top left of the screen. There you'll have to create a new Family Account, fill in a username and email address. (You can't use your main Google account for this.) You can then add family members by selecting either a parent or an individual person under "Family members." You can add a maximum of 20 of these people in total.

After you're finished, you'll receive an email inviting you to activate your Family Account on Google Maps, which you'll only be able to do using a laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

Are there any free location sharing apps?

Recommended Posts.

I'm looking for app or browser extension that allows you to share locations with a select group. I'd like to be able to easily send a location to a friend (or group of friends), and I'd prefer it be free and not require the group member to download the app or use a browser extension. Preferably the app or extension will work on both iOS and Android, but I'll settle for either in case they don't both work on both.

Is there an app or extension out there? I've seen the "GeoFriends" app, but apparently it only works for the iPhone, so I'm assuming it's not suitable for my purposes. Share this post. Link to post. Share on other sites. Well, I did try installing "Geofreinds" on my Android phone, but I couldn't get it to do what I wanted it to. However, if I could get it to function without needing the app installed on my computer or on my Android phone, then that might work.

In a round about way, what I'd really like is something that allows me to upload a location to a website where a given group can view and see other locations that were recently uploaded by other members of the group, all without installing anything. Is there a website or service that will let me achieve this? If not, is there a way I could hack it together using Google Maps/Street View? I'm guessing most geoapps would just provide a service to add new people to friends. I have an app that does exactly that, but it has a fee attached to the service (which is why I'm asking here). What it looks like is that a lot of these apps are just web apps, and while some of them have options to build in some functionality to add new locations, it's not 100%. The best option to achieve this service, though, seems to be through a web site.

To answer your questions more directly, there is not an app that will allow you to upload a location without it being visible on Google Maps. To get an idea of what people are looking for, you can browse the different features available on these apps and make your decision.
