How do you fix this app is blocked by Google?
I just read about this issue where if your app doesn't meet the Google Play Store's standards, it will get blocked by Google from being listed on Google Play Store and won't allow the app to be opened. I already had a few apps in Google Play Store which was previously getting removed and now suddenly everything is back after it was re-applied.
But when you try to re-apply all your apps are back blocked by Google? And the way to get unblocked is through a "Replace my APK" button which says replacing failed after an hour. So what is the procedure to fix this situation? Please share your solution. Thanks.
@Kamat The problem is not with the store but with me as a user that installed my apps manually in Google play market for testing. Previously I had 2 app store in Google play with the same name and now suddenly all of them were blocked. So I had no idea about the blocked one and now all of them are back. So at that point of time the "Reset to factory defaults" helped me remove only the blocked one. Now I am facing the situation again which is blocking all the apps. So is there any way to manually reinstall all the apps? What will be the procedure?
If you've already installed a replacement apk, it means that you probably have installed one of the two apps in question before they got blocked. If so, all you need to do is uninstall the other one, which can be done by removing it from device > settings > apps. Then reinstall the blocked version. You can then open it normally to verify it works. If not, then use your app manager of choice (the Play Store, Aptoide, MiXplorer, ES File Explorer.) to uninstall it.
@dakanahal:Thanks a lot. The blocked version had only 5% of downloads which was very low compared to the other app (40% downloads). I had uninstalled the other version just to confirm if it was the one that was causing the problem. All these were installed from Google play store. So even when the install was successful they somehow got blocked. I uninstalled all the previous versions, reset the device and used Play Store to install again but the problem still persists. So now what is the best way to proceed?
How do I stop Google Drive from blocking apps?
I'm trying to do remote app development using the new App engine for Eclipse platform and Google Drive. I'm using the sample app in google app engine examples: It works fine except when I try to use the webapp.getService().getDriveApp() method, it seems to block access to the drive and return a 403 error when I try to access the folder I created.
The call is: app.getService().getDriveApp(id=id).getRootFolder()
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! So I figured out what's going on. Google really doesn't want you to use the Drive App API in App Engine.
They don't want you to write data to Drive, at least until they're sure you're going to commit the data to a persistent store. They've been working on this problem a long time, so they're trying to restrict access to the API for a while. You should really be thinking about these things now, if you're about to put your app in production.
The App Engine team really doesn't like you using the Drive App API, because it doesn't work too well on their platform. They're afraid it'll break when they fix it, because it's not stable.
As a workaround, you can use their cloud storage API. It's more stable than the Drive App API, and it also has APIs that actually work.
What happened to We Heart It app?
It's a question people ask me quite often, and they can also be heard in the comments of our posts.
I've noticed over time that while We Heart It has been around for several years now, it seems to be a much more well known brand than I ever expected. For some reason, the name stuck even after the launch of the new Pinterest-like visual app and social platform. I knew it was getting popular because one day I opened a post with an image of a house that was posted on my feed and got over 8,000 likes within a few hours.
If you are wondering how We Heart It got started, you might be interested to know it all started from a small hobby project I started back in college. In October 2023, I was working on my master thesis for university and I decided to build a simple website to showcase my photography and art. After spending three weeks building it, I thought the page was not really functional or fun, so I decided to add some additional features to it. To me, those additions represented the next big step in my personal development as an artist and a creative. That idea then evolved into we and weheartit.
I created a logo and the name and it went very well, but not that many people saw it. Two days later, I posted it on my blog and a few friends liked it and started posting it on their blogs. I also started searching for a domain name and found one called weheartit.com that was available.
After thinking it was too close to the name we, I wanted a catchy name and tried other variations: WeeHeartIt and Weeheartit. I went through several names like this until I came across weheartit.
When I checked out the website, I was a bit disappointed. It looked like a regular personal blog and nothing more. I didn't even use any social media at that point in my life.
I registered the domain name, purchased the hosting and went back to work. I didn't even have any intention of promoting or selling the service. I did however create a free account and thought the best way to promote it would be to share my photos and write about them on the blog and the social media channels.
