How do I remove a school enrollment from my Chromebook?
In the Home app, select View.
Select Add or Remove enrollment from Google (Chrome OS) account. Find and select your account, then Add. From here, you have two options: Delete all of your other users if this is the only user you want to delete the education apps for. Reassign the enrollment to another Google account. In that case, you might have more than one Google account configured on your device. You can always add or remove the enrollment to any Google account on the device. When you do so, you'll also be prompted to update the settings associated with this account. So be sure to include any necessary changes for educational purposes.
After you've made any necessary updates for educational purposes, you can reset your Chromebook to go back to its factory default settings and configuration.
How to remove administrator from Chromebook without developer mode?
I've used dev mode to remove administrator from my system, now I don't have any kind of administrator on my Chromebook, can I recover it or change default admin user?
If you go to the chrome://settings/ page, you will see an option for User Data in the "Personal Data" section. You can choose what that defaults to and delete anything you'd like (which could include the default).
However, with any system security software and your standard Chrome extension setup, it should be pretty secure in this regard.
How do I reset my school Chromebook without developer mode?
I got an error message when I tried to reset it, and I can't use developer mode, I'm scared I might lose my data.
I have some personal data on the drive I don't want to lose.
We have a bunch of these, plus a couple of others. They are fine for basic web surfing, email and word processing, but not great for heavy duty applications.
I've always used the standard "reset" method as opposed to developer mode. That being said I can't recall the last time I set my Chromebook to dev mode. If you're using Chrome OS, you can see which version you're on by clicking the hamburger icon at the top left. Also the bottom right, you will see a "More." menu. Click that, scroll down, click version, click "Reset". It will bring you back to a factory (or close to) default state.
I have a CR-48. After it was damaged I decided to keep it and use it on the road. I have set it up to use my home wifi for things like netflix, youtube, and chrome with no problem at all.
I wanted it to do more though so I am in the process of doing a clean install of Linux on the same SD card that runs Android. I am going to attempt to do a full backup of my settings before doing a clean install.
I'd like to know if someone has a video or screen shot of how this is done. It would be a nice feature to add to the CR-48.
In fact, I have a CR-48 and a CR-48 LTE. I never had any trouble with them or my work in ChromeOS. If you are asking how to use a USB thumbdrive, use ChromeOS to open the Settings app and find "USB storage" on the left. Hit the "USB storage" option and then "Settings" to open the settings menu. There are several options there, including "Reset". There may be other options as well. Google seems to think a CR-48 is too old for that function. They probably need to upgrade it.
How do I Unmanage my school Chromebook?
Are you looking for a way to completely uninstall and delete your school's Chromebook?
If you want, all that is required is a few simple steps and access to the right files and software. Below, we explain how to complete the process if you wish to manage your school's laptop. First, make sure that you are viewing this guide as a teacher. Teacher users cannot use File > Add or Remove Programs, which prevents a teacher from accessing the program control panel. We will be assuming you are not just browsing as a guest.
Step 1: Find the Chromebook User Software. In order to remove your school's computer from your inventory, you will first need to locate the Chromebook user software in Windows. As this may be outside of your comfort zone, here is a link to find it.
Step 2: Access the File Properties. It is the second tab you'll want to change. If you find this file to be password protected, you will need to enter the admin account's password to view it. Step 3: Navigate to the 'User Data' folder. If you are trying to remove this device from your inventory, then navigate to the folder under C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalGoogleChromeOSUser Data. This is the folder where the Chromebook user software is stored.
Step 4: Delete your school's software. Find the .crs folder inside the 'user data' folder. This is the one that stores the information relating to the user. Delete that folder. This is the only place that allows the software to be located and it should be empty.
There is another way to do it by accessing the Control Panel > Device Manager and finding your school's software under Network Adapters and Devices. If the Chromebook you were attempting to manage does not appear here (or it has a different name), check to see if there is any other devices with the same name. Step 5: Delete all associated devices. In your Chromebook software, go into Device Manager. Look for a device named 'Chromebook'. Inside it will be your school's software. You can now delete it. Click the Remove button to confirm.
You may have to repeat this process for a couple more times until all Chromebook programs are deleted from your system.
