How do I remove managed by school from my Chromebook?
I was trying to move my Chromebook into my personal account and I accidentally enabled "managed by school" in the privacy settings.
Now it won't let me log into my account. I don't want to remove my school's account, but I don't want my school's account on my personal account.
I tried resetting my Google account and when I did that it logged me out and now I can't get back in. Any help is appreciated.
Yes, this happened to me too. I have a chromebook and it was a mistake. I was following the instructions to move my chromebook into my personal account and I accidentally clicked 'managed by school' instead of 'managed by me' and now I can't access my account at all. The only way to get it fixed is to reset my google account.
I had the same problem with the Chromeos 13. On the chromeos website you can see that there is a new version available (13.4). I have updated my chromebook and now it works again! You have to restart the chromebook once after the update and your data will be still there.
I had the same issue. I don't remember how I got my chrome os onto school computer and managed by school so I dont know how to remove that option from my account. I did some research and found this link which says that I need to reset my account and go through the steps. I followed the instructions in the link and then I was able to log back into my account.
What exactly does "managed by school" mean?
How do I get rid of forced enrollment on Chromebook?
I received a used Lenovo Chromebook as part of a promotion but unfortunately the OS was not activated or installed.
After the activation period has expired I need to either remove the operating system or create a recovery drive so that it will be automatically reinstalled whenever a new account is made. How do I do this? My daughter cannot have that laptop with her on the internet without signing in because we want to prevent data loss. I found this article: Unfortunately, it doesn't apply to Chrome OS. I looked through this document and got nowhere: We can all agree that the Chromebook environment is an excellent OS for children to use in the classroom. However, there are a number of things that get in the way. One of those things is the fact that all Chromebooks come with a mandatory forced enrollment in the Google Drive online service. Google Drive isn't evil, but it's annoying because it requires a login that cannot be disabled.
What to do? The best solution is to get rid of the requirement to login with a Google Drive account. You must be enrolled in Google Drive already because it is required if you want to save content on your Chromebook or restore content from a previous session. I'm not sure how to disable this requirement, but here are some techniques to try.
First you need to locate your operating system files. I did this by using Chrome. In Chrome, you go to the chrome://flags page. You look for the Forced sign in disabled option.
If you do this on the latest released version of Chrome OS, it will automatically disable the functionality of the forced sign-in. But even if you don't use that version, you can change the settings manually by doing the following: The only way to completely disable the Forced sign-in is to not register at all. The next time you log into Google Drive, you will have to login and enable it all over again.
