Why is Netflix not working on Firestick with VPN?

Hi!

I've just bought an updated Firestick and am using the free VPN service TunnelBear. It is working, but every so often I have problems with access to Netflix through the TV app, as it keeps trying to re-establish a connection, even when I've just finished watching a movie or series. Then after a few hours it begins again and this time the process does not finish. The TV app says that it could be a bug, but I think it's a problem with my Firestick and not a problem with VPN.

Why isn't Netflix working on Firestick with VPN? You can't get Netflix in Canada without a VPN, they're blocking it since we are under the GDPR rules, even though there was only 4 million hits on the search for the "Privacy Policy" page last month, they still don't get it. Took the VPN service away from your account and logged into your Netflix account normally. The next time you open up Netflix, there will be a new "VPN" icon in the upper right. Click on it and choose "Use VPN". Click OK to confirm that you want to use the VPN. When it connects to the VPN, it should open up the normal "Netflix" browser and the VPN should be switched off. You should now be able to access Netflix normally without having to log in again.

Note: If you have a paid subscription, then VPN icon will only show up if you disconnect your current VPN. Then you need to go into your VPN configuration panel and select "Use VPN" and then connect to it again.

You can turn on the VPN icon by clicking the button at the top right of the Netflix window. Selecting this option will give you the VPN icon in the top right. This will open a different VPN page. When you are finished, go back to the regular Netflix window and unselect this VPN option.

As I said, I bought a Firestick about a week ago, and I'm using a VPN service called "TunnelBear". After I sign in to my Firestick, I select "Watch movies" and try to watch something on Netflix, I'll be prompted to download the VPN app.

However, if I download the VPN app, then it will ask me whether I want to connect the VPN or not.

Why won't Netflix work with NordVPN?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the NordVPN client and the Netflix addon.

I've also tried resetting my connection in the router's web interface to make sure that wasn't the problem. What am I doing wrong?

Re: ? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the NordVPN client and the Netflix addon. Thanks. Trip. So you tried everything to be sure there was no issue with your VPN? If you are having problems getting it working with your network provider, that's a pretty easy fix. Just set up a DNS server and a static IP on your network.

@Trip The VPN I have is set up with a dedicated server at the ISP. I use dd-wrt and it automatically points all DNS requests to my ISP's DNS server. I did try running the Netflix addon without the VPN and I had no problems, so I know the VPN isn't the issue. I'm not sure what I can do to make it work with Netflix. I've been on this forum for a long time and I've never had an issue like this before. I'm having a really hard time finding anyone else having this issue. I posted on the NordVPN forum and they said they couldn't help me.

NordVPN has nothing to do with your DNS settings. It does work with the Netflix Addon on Linux, even if the client is just a binary installer.

Does NordVPN work well on Firestick?

I have a Firestick and I am considering buying NordVPN.

I don't know if it works well on the device or not. It appears to work fine on my Windows PC, but I would prefer if it worked on the Firestick. Any experience with this? Thanks!

I don't know if it's the same thing or not, but if you're looking for a "streamer" I've found Plex is pretty awesome. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.

Plex is awesome, but there are two issues: 1) It requires an internet connection. 2) It requires a subscription to use their "Streaming" service. NordVPN allows you to tunnel all internet traffic through their network so you don't need an internet connection to use the VPN. The subscription service only needs to be purchased for any of their apps (you can use them for free if you want).

I've used NordVPN on a Firestick before and it works great. There are two things you have to keep in mind when using the VPN though.

First, if you're connecting to a WiFi network, the Firestick must be configured to allow connections from unauthenticated devices. Otherwise, it won't be able to make the connection. You can do this by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and then selecting "Security" on the left side. Then select "Open Unauthenticated Devices.

Why is my VPN on Firestick not working?

I have a FireTV Stick that I use to watch Netflix and stream TV shows.

When I connect to the VPN on my computer, it works great, but when I connect it to the FireTV, the VPN connection just keeps asking me to login or register for a new account. What do I do?

I'm trying to find a solution. I have been looking at this post: but it is outdated and I am not sure how to implement this solution. Any help would be appreciated! Re: ? Hello. I am having the same problem. The VPN client that I used was not free. I have the latest version of the vpn client. I also installed the firetv app and updated it. I am still having the same problem.

How can you tell if your VPN client is the problem? Have you tried disabling it and seeing if it connects? Is there anything in the logs? Hi, thanks for replying. I am using the VPN client that I found here: I don't know if it's the problem. I tried disconnecting from the VPN and it worked. I think that it's not connecting properly to the FireTV. I am not sure what the logs say, but I will try to look at them.
