I'm getting ready to plant 3 of them in my planter, and they'll need shade for at least a year before I would recommend them as being in full sun.

Would you be able to tell me how many hours of sun they can take in total throughout their growth cycle?

Shi Shis can take full sun (at least 6-8 hours) if they're placed away from direct sun, or they can tolerate the heat more if you plant them in a shady spot. They will bloom faster if you add another plant in the background shade. They also flower better when there's a bit of overhead shade, though they still can tolerate full sun. Sunsun. I am growing Camellia sasanqua shrub in my flower garden and they are not showing flower. It is early November here in Washington State. I know the plant should be blooming by now. Should I wait or do I put them inside a glass house? Thanks!

I am also confused and need to grow Camellia sasanqua shrub. Do they need to be fertilized, transplanted into garden pots first? Or will they grow and flower on their own in a pot in front of house. I have one from local florist and it grew up to about 5 ft tall and still flowering nicely. That's just how they work! You just water regularly but don't over-fertilize.
