Why do I keep glitching out of apps?
I am a new Mac user and have no clue about this as a person who doesn't normally use an iPhone or Android.
I have a new MacBook Pro and the last OS update was on 1/15. After that, I kept running into glitching when I'd try to close apps (usually the Finder). I haven't run into it since. I am using all-purpose Adobe software, Keynote and the like. Is there a software update I'm missing? Any ideas?
Apple recently updated the Mac operating system to High Sierra. And you probably just upgraded to Sierra or El Capitan.
Your Apple ID can be a bit confusing. If you create a new account, they are always case sensitive. You need to do a few things:
Create your account by going to the Settings app, choosing Apple ID and App Store, then Signing In to Account and then creating a new Apple ID. Create your iTunes & App Store account by going to the Settings app, choosing Apple ID and iTunes & App Store, then Signing In to Account and then Creating a New Apple ID. Make sure you don't have any apps installed. You have to go to the App Store and download apps. Then you have to download them directly to your machine.
Why does my iPad keep exiting out of apps?
I have several apps open now, and after using the app for awhile, it will suddenly quit, close all apps and return to the home screen.
The app may then start up again on its own, and then quit. It may only close and reopen one or two apps.
I have no idea where to look to get some kind of diagnostic. Everything appears to work fine with other apps.
I have never had this problem in my 17 years of iPad use. My iPad's software is fully updated. I have done nothing that has changed the hardware or firmware.
Re: iPad 2 running iOS5 keeps closing out all apps. I have a very similar experience. After a while my iPad suddenly closes all apps. Sometimes apps stay open, but most frequently the whole thing happens.
It happens randomly and not always with the same apps, so sometimes it has to be restarted. The only thing that happens, is that it becomes unresponsive (ie there is no task bar, pressing the home button, swipe function and so on).
After this the iPhone that was in the iPad seems to become unusable (no home button, no swipe left or right) but that might be also because of the closing of the iPad and because of the fact that I turned the display off once (that made the phone unusable). I have tried a factory reset on both iPads. In case of the iPhone, I restored it from backup, but with the iPad all I tried to do is to restore it from backup. Now I have no clue how to fix this problem. It just happens and I can't restart and restart the iPad (the home button does nothing) or do anything at all. I don't have an iPad 2. Maybe you could try the following, in case they are compatible.
Restore iPad from iTunes backup.- Reset iPhone to factory settings.- Reset iPad to factory settings.- Turn off iPad, power off, plug off iPad, wait 1 minute, power on iPad.- Restart iPhone and reboot iPad (again).- Check whether this helps you in any way. If it does, maybe try to repeat this steps to verify the problem.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
How do I stop my iPad from exiting apps?
I am an iPhone user, but I do a lot of iPad work and use my iPad as a "book" for reading on the bus, on planes, etc.
I often have an iPad that will exit apps and I don't want this to happen, especially when I am reading in the Kindle app. I know I can go into the Settings/iPad/Apps/Manage Apps and choose to not exit the app, but what's the best way to do this? There doesn't seem to be an "Exit" button like there is on the iPhone (you just hit the home button). I would like to do this without having to go through the hassle of setting up each app as a choice.
It sounds like you don't want to exit an app, but rather to keep the app active in the background, but not on the screen. I think what you are asking about is called "application switching". In the iPhone, you are given a choice to leave an application (such as Safari or the app with the Kindle Reader) running in the background, or to close it. On the iPad, there are two ways to do this, both based on multitasking.
The first is a gesture-based approach. If you hit the home button, you can then click on any app you want to launch. Once launched, you can choose whether to leave it running in the background, or close it.
The second approach is to tap the application icon in the dock, and then tap "Bring All to Front". The result is the same as the first approach.
When you're reading on the Kindle app, you can also make it so that it stays on the screen. To do this, you'll have to tap the "hamburger" menu icon on the top right corner of the screen, and then tap "Settings" at the bottom of the menu. Scroll down and find the item called "Kindle Fire". Tap that item and tap the "Keep Screen On" option.
