What is the difference between testing and regression testing?

Both testing and regression testing involve the verification of a product or service.

In testing, the testing team is responsible for verifying that a product or service has the expected behaviour. The verification is often done by means of automated tests or manual inspection of the product or service.

The verification step is used to demonstrate the functionality of a product or service in order to make sure it meets the requirements. In regression testing, the team is responsible for verifying that the behaviour of the product or service has not changed from previous versions. The verification is usually done by comparing a previous version with the current version.

As a part of the process of upgrading a product or service, a regression test is often run after the upgrade to verify the new version meets the requirements. Regression testing often involves comparing a previous version with the current version and comparing the results of the regression test to the results of the previous regression test. What is the difference between manual testing and manual regression testing? The difference between manual testing and manual regression testing is that the manual testing team is only concerned with checking that the product or service meets the requirements while the manual regression testing team is also responsible for checking that the product or service meets the requirements as well as comparing the behaviour of the product or service to previous versions. In manual regression testing, the team needs to manually compare the results of the current version with the results of the previous version and determine whether there has been a change in the behaviour of the product or service. Why is manual testing needed after an upgrade? An upgrade can cause any number of changes to the functionality of a product or service. These changes can be caused by any number of reasons such as changing a requirement, introducing a new feature, adding a new component, removing a component or improving a component.

When an upgrade is performed, it is important to ensure that all of the changes made to the product or service during the upgrade meet the requirements. If changes are not made to the product or service in the correct manner, the results of the upgrade can be disastrous. This could mean that the product or service is broken or that it fails to meet the requirements.

When the upgrade was performed, it is important that the testing team ensures the functionality of the upgraded product or service does not change from the previous version. What is manual regression testing?

What is an example of a sanity test?

There are a lot of different types of sanity testing - but let me try to make it simple: Your development environment should always be the same as your live environment, so that you can test your code on both.

You can set up all the common things like databases, servers etc.

You should run the same database (for example, MySQL) in both your development and production environment. Do not let different data-structure for the same database cause problems. For example, if you have two tables in the same database, but the tables contain different data (for example, one table has two columns and the other has ten), then your code will break. So, when you develop, use the exact same data that you will put into production.

There should be no difference in the code, except for the obvious differences (like code or data structure changes), between your development and production environment. For a sanity test, you should do the following: Set up your development environment and test your code. Change your production environment. Make sure that your development environment works as expected. Make sure that your production environment is functioning as expected. Hope this helps.

This is a question which I've been asked many times in my work, but never been able to find a definitive answer.

I think it's important to understand where we stand with the testing landscape and how we might approach the problem.

I'm going to try to start with a simple example, so if you feel like the question is too hard, you can skip to the end. Say we have an application called App, which uses Angular to display some data from the backend. App exposes two routes: /app and /data, and it makes requests for data on both of these routes. It does this using an HTTP client service called HttpClient, which is then injected into App.

It turns out that HttpClient, like any HTTP client, has a number of useful features that make writing tests easier, and also allow you to exercise the app in various ways. In particular, we can make requests against App and HttpClient to ensure that our app is responding correctly. This is something that we can do by using TestScheduler and Observable sequences to write tests. We'll talk more about these later, but for now just take it that we can create a test like this:

This test is very nice because we can create a mock HttpClient and inject it into App. We can then provide responses to our requests against App and verify that the app responds as expected.

What if we wanted to test something else? Say we wanted to test that the app actually goes to the right URL when it makes requests? We could create a test like this: We can see that this test is much more complex, as it involves creating a new mock HttpClient and providing a response to the request. But we can then assert that the right request was made and we receive the response we expect.

So how does this help us with regression testing? It gives us two big benefits. Firstly, it gives us a really easy way to write tests for our API calls in isolation, which is great because we're writing our tests without having to worry about how the data from the backend will be passed to App. Secondly, it gives us a way of testing that App itself is actually being used correctly.

What is the difference between regression and sanity testing and smoke testing?

It's kind of a good question to ask since as a new team member it is going to be hard to understand the purpose of regression testing until the code goes to production.

As a matter of fact, I had to explain this concept to my colleagues who thought that regression testing means testing every time the code gets updated. That is, even though the tests are not new but they must be passed, before the code is put to production. This makes sense when I think of a regression test like, I have created a test cases using the new code and running them to check if the new code is doing what it was supposed to. But that's just one aspect of testing that you can use in order to understand regression testing.

There is another use for regression testing which doesn't mean updating the code or changing something. In this case, you are actually testing the stability of your app. So the question is how do we run a regression test if we don't have any old version of the code?

In order to address this question I have explained two methods here: one of them is using git and the other method is using an automation tool. I like this article of using git for regression testing which I thought might be useful to get more insight on regression testing. I will try to discuss here with the following questions: What is regression testing? Why it is needed? Is it necessary to maintain a record of regression tests? How to run the regression test using git? I hope this would answer those questions and hopefully it would help you figure out when you need to run regression test and which method is best to do so. I read about regression testing, but the term was not quite clear for me. In order to address this question, I asked a colleague of mine who is a developer himself and was helping me in learning the basics of testing which lead me to the below definition.
