Should VPN be on or off on Fire Stick?
For anyone new to the thread, here's a summary of the issue we are trying to figure out: VPN is great in theory, but FireStick can't handle it.
Here's the problem I'm having: When using a VPN connection with an external server, sometimes the FireStick doesn't work as intended. The TV shows a black screen with only audio, and the FireStick seems to lock up. We're trying to get more info from the FireStick developers.
If you're unfamiliar with VPN, it basically tunnels your data from one network to another. Most of our Internet traffic goes through a VPN, and I haven't had this problem when connected to my VPN.
I'm wondering if I should turn VPN on or off on the FireStick. I've read that this has been an issue with the original FireStick, but I'm assuming that's changed with the latest update.
I don't have any idea how you're connecting to the VPN. Are you behind a router? Are you behind a "split tunnel" router? That's actually pretty simple.it is a standalone system, without a router. I have the latest version of the FireStick, and it just has an ethernet port. I didn't even notice until someone pointed it out to me earlier that there were two ethernet ports. It has an Ethernet port and a USB cable for a keyboard/mouse. That's it.
I think there is no issue with the FireStick, and it may be related to the VPN software. We're working with the FireStick developers to try to pinpoint the issue. I know this is off-topic from the question, but maybe someone else will have an idea.

How can I make IPVanish faster?
If you're on a computer or tablet, you can make it go faster by upgrading your computer's software, installing a new browser, or optimizing your connection.
But if you're talking about an old phone that doesn't get much use, you can't do much about the speed itself.
The speed of your Internet connectionand how fast it looks like it's goingis mostly dependent on the type of connection you're using. Wi-Fi has no fixed limits; if you have a strong enough connection, your router should be able to go as fast as it wants. On the other hand, if you're using a mobile connection (3G or 4G), you need to look at your cellular provider's policies.
You can't really change the technical limitations of these network connections, but you can change how it looks to your computer and smartphone. Step 1: Figure out what your Internet connection is using. If your ISP assigns you a speedlike we just didthen that's the number you're limited to. You can use our ISP speed test to see how fast you're actually getting, and compare that to the speeds advertised by your ISP.
Step 2: Download your Internet browser. We recommend Firefox, since it's free and you won't be downloading any extensions or plugins that slow you down.
If you haven't downloaded Firefox in a while, you might want to start by downloading the latest version of Firefox and then delete the browser you used to download it (unless you still use that browser). It's better to download an older version and delete all your downloads so that you don't accidentally open any other extensions and plugins in your previous version of Firefox. Then, when you install Firefox, it will create a fresh, default profile that isn't loaded with old extensions.
Step 3: Install Firefox. Once you have Firefox downloaded, you'll also want to install the latest update for Firefox. If you're already on the latest version, there's no need to do this step.
After the installation, Firefox will ask if you want to save all your previous Firefox settings. That's all it will do.
What VPN protocol is best for Fire Stick?
I have a Fire Stick.
I am using it to stream Netflix on the TV and I use the VPN service provided by my ISP, but I only have a connection when I'm home and I'm just wondering which VPN protocol is best for streaming Netflix on the Fire Stick? There are many different VPN protocols. Most (but not all) have the following attributes: They allow traffic to be encrypted in transit from one VPN server to another. They have an authentication mechanism (most commonly username/password), and optionally a secret encryption key. They offer network address translation (NAT) to make a single IP address appear to be multiple IP addresses. For streaming, you would want to use a VPN protocol that offers secure tunneling (in-transit encryption), and network address translation. This is generally considered more secure than simple point-to-point connections. However, most VPNs have a set of rules that control which sites can be accessed through their service. For example, they might only allow traffic to Netflix. If you have to choose between encryption and access to your favorite sites, then choose VPNs that don't have a set of rules.
A well-known VPN protocol for Netflix streaming is OpenVPN. It has support for in-transit encryption (and some even claim they support traffic encryption), and network address translation. It is a free, open-source, cross-platform VPN protocol.
If you really want to use a VPN, then you could try the Netflix DNS workaround. Using this method, you use a VPN on your PC, and use DNS-over-TLS to tunnel your VPN traffic over the DNS service (like Google's 8.8). Your VPN client will be tunneled over a DNS server, so it looks like you are tunneling through the VPN service. This method is easier and less effective than the OpenVPN method, but it works.
