What was the number of people playing 12 Minutes in that room?

How many people played at home at the same time? Does the number of players change in the rooms of the convention? Will there be an official list of every player at the show? (We assume one or two. )

The answer is that it's actually very complicated. I did a statistical study for Gamasutra that tried to figure it out based on data I collected at the show. It's not definitive, but I'd say it gives a pretty good idea of where the most people are in the game and how the number is changing over time.

But first. Let's talk about 12 Minutes (or, more correctly, 12 Minute Saga: The Board Game, which is what we decided to name the game.)

Why Was it Made? You know this title already. It's the game everyone wants to make or has made. But if you're here, it's because you are working on your game, so I'll skip some history. Suffice it to say this is the third title in my personal board game series, and the only one that's not a children's book.

I can't really claim I'm the first to do this. There are a couple of old articles mentioning someone doing it. I don't have proof that others exist, but the people who own those things tell me they definitely exist. The game itself came from a bunch of articles posted on a certain board game website for a while. A year ago, the team I had assembled to make the game came together and created a prototype, which we showed at a convention to get people's feedback.

If anything, I think it shows, how few of the games out there actually focus on making a community around a game, rather than taking their experience and turning it into a "one-way" message or experience. It's great to create some stories around your games, like I did for 12 Minutes, but most of these stories end up on my blog. As I've said many times, we still have to pay our rent.

I'm glad the game continues to bring people together. And as always, I'll update the page with everything I learn.

What is the plot twist of 12 Minutes?

12 Minutes begins with Michael (Jim Sturgess) and his colleague, Jack (Jude Law), in a car travelling together across London. The two of them are going about their work- lives - Jack to an office, Michael to a home office. In between these tasks, Michael's thoughts turn more to his girlfriend Anna (Claire Skinner) and his son Simon (Oliver). We see them separately, we know them as two people in one. We also see them as one in the other.

At intervals during the journey, they receive some information from the radio which seems relevant to something that happened that day. Some of this is only understood by one of the pair, who then passes it on. This means that 12 Minutes isn't a straightforward police procedural or even a domestic thriller. It has more in common with films like The Player (1994) or The Killing.

That's my spoiler - but I'm not sure what I'm being warned against. Can you tell anything from the trailer? The trailer looks like a thriller. There's a long car journey towards the climax of the story, which doesn't necessarily mean things are going to be as tense as this suggests.

We've all sat back in cinema in shock and awe at thrillers where the tension is at its peak throughout but isn't built up. 12 Minutes seems to offer that possibility with its opening section. So if you think you're in for an explosion of tension in the next two hours, you're right. It lasts for a good 40 minutes - that's something not many movies manage.

The plot twist in 12 Minutes is almost invisible. It comes in the form of a simple phrase being spoken by an unknown character whose identity is revealed later. As we find out more about the person it refers to, their past and the connections that will open up over the course of the film, we realise the importance of this piece of information. At first we are just seeing this word onscreen because it has no context - like finding the word "shhh" in a Shakespeare play and finding out what it's supposed to mean. All the while, the phrase lingers like a distant memory, something it's possible that any of us have had during a long night shift. That it comes as a twist might put some off - but I like that.

How long does it take to beat 12 Minutes?

Here's a great story for you.

An 8-year-old kid named Adam Wood from the UK won the 12-Minute Marathon in just under 13 minutes. What is so remarkable about this feat is that he did it while wearing a full-body prosthetic called a Synergy Suit. This means that the suit is built up to Adam's exact specifications and measurements, with every piece (except the legs) constructed from carbon fiber. She has been training him in preparation for the race ever since, but only a week or so before the race, they were told that his prosthetic legs would have to be custom made. In addition to the custom legs, the suit was altered and his feet were padded.

On November 18th, 2025, Adam set out on a run with his mother, all set to conquer the longest distance in the history of prosthetics. The marathon was the 12-Minute Marathon in London, and when he finished the run, he walked a total of 1.2 miles in 12 minutes. He then ran a full lap of the course for an overall time of 13 minutes, beating the previous world record of 16 minutes. The Guinness World Records official said: This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the challenges Adam faces.

Adam's mother had been training him for months and weeks prior to the race, but her son's prosthetic legs were not yet ready, so at first the plan was to walk the entire race. However, after only about a mile, Adam took off running, and he ended up finishing the race in just over 11 minutes. His mother was so proud of her son and how he handled the situation that she said, I can't describe the feeling, just a huge sense of relief. Adam is still very young, and his parents hope to raise enough money to make the prosthetic legs to the high standards required for the next marathon.
