Why can't I open links on my Mac?

I've been trying to open a link from the finder menu bar, but it doesn't work.

I keep getting a red line as if the website is trying to do something, and nothing happens. I can open anything I want from the browser or my apps without any problem.

I'm using OSX Yosemite 10.5 Thanks! It's most likely an issue with your operating system. You may need to try opening up a new Safari window (using the key combination N) and see if that works. If you still have the same issue, use the following steps to troubleshoot:
Ensure that your system has the latest security updates: You can check the macOS Security Updates section on Apple's Security Updates page to verify whether your Mac has the latest security updates installed. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Safari: Go to Apple's website, type in "Safari" in the search box and then click on the Safari link. Once there, you will see the Safari app in the Apps folder, which you can click on to launch the app. If it opens normally, it means that your Safari installation is fine.

If it doesn't open properly, then you can open the App Store, locate the Safari icon and then download the latest version of Safari from the Downloads tab. After you launch Safari, your computer should be up-to-date with the latest security updates.

Verify your Internet connection: You may also need to update your modem to ensure you are connected to the Internet correctly. Try a different broadband connection to ensure you are connected to the correct modem.

Try clearing your browsing history and cookies: Another thing you could try is to clear the browsing history and cookies for all your installed applications. This way you will make sure that Safari is the only app that keeps loading a blank page when it tries to load a URL. For the most common browsers, the way to clear browsing history is by going to the 'Tools' menu, and then selecting 'History' and then 'Empty Recent History'.

Try disabling 3rd party web browsing extensions: If you have any installed web browser extensions, you should uninstall them. If you already have the Google Chrome web browser installed on your Mac, you may also want to disable extensions (such as the Google Chrome extension).

Why is my Mac not loading anything?

Macs come with a basic pre-installed system.

I'm assuming this is the Mac OS X version of Linux's basic system, so it's basically all there for you to use, but if I'm wrong on that, please correct me.

So the way I usually load my system is to type boot into Terminal and then type: sudo cp -R /Volumes/myVolume/Applications/OSX/myapp/Contents /Applications/myAppName. Where myAppName is the name of the application I want to install. This works fine when I boot into Linux (with Ubuntu, but other distros have the same thing) and I'm able to use my apps as I'm accustomed to. However, when I try the same thing in the new Mac I've been given, the terminal responds with: cp: `/Volumes/myVolume/Applications/OSX/myapp/Contents': No such file or directory. What is the difference between my new Mac and my old Mac that makes this work differently? Or am I going about this wrong? You're running the command wrong. Cp /Volumes/myVolume/Applications/OSX/myapp/Contents /Applications/myAppName. It's /Volumes/myVolume/Applications/OSX/myapp/Contents. You have an extra / and a missing final /.

Also, you'll need to start your terminal with sudo or with a root shell.

How do I fix Safari not loading web pages?

I have been using Mac OS X 10.

6 Snow Leopard for a few weeks and in the last day or so Safari has not been loading web pages at all. I click a link, but no page is displayed and Safari just sits there looking pretty on the screen, I have to force quit Safari to open a browser window. I also find myself having to press Ctrl-Alt-Del several times when using Safari and opening windows.

I have done all that I can think of to clear out my browser caches. I have deleted cookies from my browser. I have rebooted my computer, I have updated Safari, I have updated all my applications and I have searched the net for a solution, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else run into this problem and what did you do to fix it? I need some help here. Thanks.

All Answers. You may have more luck getting answer if you ask the question in one of the online OSX forums. Try the MacRumors forum: Also, you could try contacting Apple directly. They have a very active Technical Support Forum: Good luck. OK so I found it. I went back into System preferences. Security. Firewall and then under the "Advanced" tab (or something like that) I checked to make sure the "HTTP and HTTPS (SSL)" settings are selected and everything is enabled. If you select the "Show Status Bars" tab near the top and then click on any of the boxes that say "No" I get the error message: "The connection failed." If I click on the OK button in that dialog box and then click on a webpage in Safari the error goes away. That means to me that it has something to do with whether or not HTTP is being redirected or not. If I disable the "Show Status Bars" it still comes up and I still have the problem. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix it? Thanks for your help.

If you can post an error, please, post it, this might help finding the problem. So if, for example, you have "Error Loading Page" with the address then maybe there would be something similar in other browser. Thanks for the help.
