I'm not sure why, but I'm wondering why spirit bear quest gives me a spirit petal when it seems like there's no other way to get one other than grinding them out with the bear spirit.

The question is why am I given a spirit petal for doing the first of these two things (which is basically just killing bears) but not the second? So I guess what I'm asking is does it just have a random number of spirit petals that I get for killing bears, or is it more like an additional quest reward? As has already been answered, you get spirit petals for completing the spirit bear quests. You can't really do this quest any other way as you are required to eat bear pelts in order to increase your bear's strength.

So for example, say you want to know what each spirit petal is worth on the AH.5 Gold from Bear Pelts You would therefore need to complete 11 of the bear spirit quests to make up for the loss of selling bear pelts. And if you had only killed 1 bear and sold its pelts, it would have given you 4 spirit petals as per the table above. Hope this helps!
