How do you download from Google Drive if viewers Cannot download?
When I click on a google drive (on the website) link, it says it's for Windows and macOS. When viewing a Google Drive (folder) from Gmail or other browsers, it's fine and can download in all browsers, but when I view a Google drive folder from the Drive.com website or in apps like Windows Live Mail it doesn't give me the option to download it. Is there an app I should have installed or something?
Comments. @Sofia: Please read this link: If you don't understand any of that, and I doubt you do, please ask a question. Also: If that does not solve your problem, please start a new thread with the link as the first link.
In Gmail or your browser you just need to "open in File Explorer". It's the same thing as opening an HTML page in your browser by double-clicking it.
In Windows Mail, you need to select the link to open it with, then open it using your browser. In Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail), you will get the same problem. It will ask you what program you want to open the file with, but once you've chosen File Explorer it should open normally.
In Thunderbird it's similar to Google Chrome or Firefox. Select the link, choose the option to open with your browser, then open it.
I use Google Drive in my browser, but in Safari and iMac the dropdown menu is greyed out. You'll have to go into File > Show In Finder.
You're welcome. This post has been read 0 times.com (formerly Hotmail), you will get the same problem.
How do I download view-only files from Google Drive to my phone?
I know that there is a way to download view-only files on Android. I have installed the free Google Drive app on my phone. But, I am not sure how to download view-only files. How do I download view-only files from Google Drive to my phone?
In the Google Drive app, you can select the files you want to download and then tap the "Download" button at the top right. If you use an iPhone or iPad, you can't download view-only files. You can only download documents that you can view on the device.
How to download protected view-only files from Google Drive?
Google has made it extremely hard to download files that are protected using the VIEW-ONLY permission.
The only way is with an application, ie Drive AutoDownloader or the Google Chrome extension.
If you attempt to right click a protected file in Chrome's FileManager, it will open up in the "Drive file" tab, if possible. Or, use the command line, as explained here.
For more details on this issue and a solution for this question for the case of Google drive, have a look at the follow up answer to this question. Update: I just downloaded the new Google Drive, so maybe the View-Only functionality is back? In any case I am writing a new page below, explaining how to do this in the new Google Drive. You'll find below a link to download the app, plus the steps and the tools required to download these files from Google Drive. And a bonus! A step by step tutorial how to use a service like Hacksaw, to download protected files. As a preview, this can also be used to download the Google Drive app, as explained in step three.
Download and Install Google Drive AutoDownloader. On your device of choice download and install the Google Drive AutoDownloader. If there is a problem with the installer, see the comments. Please help.
Login to your Google Account in Google Drive. Connect to your Google Account (you can find it from your Google Account settings), then Log into your Google Drive using the Drive AutoDownloader app. (I used my Google account name and password) Select 'Manage Files and Apps'. Add your Google Drive App to the Drive AutoDownloader. From the menu, select Apps - Add App. Select Google Drive from the menu. Select files that should be autodownloaded. Click the blue add button. You can select multiple files. To delete an item, select it and press the cross button or simply select again.
Can you download from Google Drive with view-only?
I want to download all files from a folder on my Google Drive to my local drive, but I don't want to give access to anyone who can download them.
I know you can download files to a specific folder, but what if I want to download everything to a local folder, can I do that? You cannot download everything at once. However, it's easy to save everything to a file and then download that file from your local machine.
Let's say your file is called myfile.tar.gz.
You'll need to use gcloud to download the file.
