What are five means of communication?

What are the 4 types of communication for kids?

For most of you reading this, you're likely already familiar with the four types of communication a child uses and will be familiar with their development.

You'll also know that these are all different stages of communication a child will have to master. But how many of us really know what all of these terms mean? For those that might be looking for a refresher on the definitions, you're in luck. Below is a quick guide on each of the 4 types of communication for kids:

Initiating - As soon as kids begin to make sense out of words, they are able to initiate with their caregivers (parents, teachers, and other family members) through speech and/or body language. What's important here is that a kid will communicate their wants and needs before they ask for a particular item. This is important because it teaches us that even though we may have limited access to certain items at times, our kids will communicate with us when they're upset or frustrated. We can then respond in a way that helps them move forward in a healthier way.

Requesting - Also referred to asking for something, kids initiate and request through speech and/or body language. Again, this is important because they have learned to communicate their wants and needs first. What's important here is that when they do express needs, they don't get upset because they already established themselves as good communicators. This is a huge part of developing trust and building self-esteem.

Complaining - Complaining occurs when kids don't understand something and aren't able to communicate their frustration or distress in another way. This usually happens when kids don't have any access to an item, don't have proper understanding of a situation, or are just not able to communicate with others. Kids complain when there is no way to properly express their emotions and concerns to another person. This shows us that they are being stubborn and will continue to do so until they are ready to move forward and work towards resolution.

Demanding - Just like complaining, demanding occurs when kids don't understand something and are not able to communicate their distress in another way.

Are you able to describe the importance of each?

I. INTRODUCTION In the beginning, before you were born, I created you out of my own body. And I put you in a garden to grow. I watched over you for the day you would be planted in the ground. And then I grew tired of you. I was still bored with you. I grew restless with your growth. I was frustrated. So I got annoyed. I killed the garden. (Garden of Eden, chapter 1)
In the beginning, before you were born, God had a special interest in you. He wanted you to be just like him. After he created you in his image, he began to grow bored with you. He was so happy with you when you were still inside his mother, but after you were born, he grew more and more dissatisfied with you. As you grew older, he decided to kill the garden of life. So he put you in the ground for seventy years. He has no reason to love you anymore, and if you don't obey his commandments, he will kill you.

II. MEANS OF COMMUNICATION I am here to teach you. Before, I could have easily killed you, but now I have decided not to. Since I made that decision, I also decided to take care of you. Therefore, I am also giving you some means of communication. If you want to make a request of me, let me know by speaking, writing, or thinking.

I will communicate with you by speaking. God said, I chose you, because you are the only human being who has the power to speak. (Garden of Eden, chapter 4) He chose you because you have a voice. In addition, I also chose you to hear my voice. If you wish to communicate with me, you can pray to me. I will hear you if you ask God, Please, make sure that I communicate with my neighbor. Then I will answer you. (Psalms 25:7; John 4:43)

The Bible says, Don't be afraid to ask, because I will hear you.
