Why is my VPN not recognizing my password?

When connected to my VPN for any of my network apps or computers, I cannot enter my work VPN (or any other wifi based) password. The only response I get is "unable to log in." I have not changed the password for the VPN itself nor the password for wifi, I tried restarting the router and the computer as well.

I know you are trying to use your laptop with a desktop VPN because you were having issues with getting out on to the network but if you are only going to use this connection then this is more likely your issue than not being able to get on to the network. Can you use it with a different computer? The VPN has worked from the first time without issue but since I am on my laptop and that is my only connection, sometimes I connect to it using the username and password and it will log in. After doing that every time, I would try to log in with the VPN but still unable to log in.

You are correct, if I was in my regular computer to be able to access internet and go to work then I would not have the issue. I still have access to my wireless connection on the desktop, which is what I wanted. I just need my wireless connection on my laptop in order to reach the WIFI of my companies so I can access their network as needed. I appreciate the info. I know that this is not the correct place for my tech support questions but I need answer in order to make sure it does not happen again.

In the old days, my VPN service provider of choice was VyprVPN, which has since been acquired by Private Internet Access. I really liked their service and had been happy with it for quite some time.

Over the last few months though, I had started to experience slower speeds and connection times when connecting to sites through their service. It was becoming increasingly difficult to stream video content through their service, and I was having a lot of trouble browsing through some of the larger torrent indexes. My speedtest.net results didn't indicate this issue, but I decided to trust their own speedtest because of that.

However, I was experiencing such slow browsing speeds, it was becoming difficult to use the service for anything else. I finally decided to take action on it a few weeks ago and start using my VPN of choice for daily use again.

VyprVPN is now called Private Internet Access, and their service is still great. If you need a VPN service, I highly recommend checking them out. In fact, I will be writing an article about their service next week!

In this article, I will share my experience with this new VPN provider and how their service compares to my old VPN provider. I will be comparing their service with VyprVPN's, as that is what I used to have before they bought VyprVPN. I will also be talking about why I went from one provider to another. This is part two of a two part series, so check out the first part if you haven't already!

When using VPNs, you often think you are online anonymously. You could even argue that the VPN provider is an extension of your computer, or even that you are just a client of the service.

However, if you use the same connection at the same time on multiple devices, then it becomes much more complicated. You are most likely sharing your internet connection with other users, all of whom will expect a smooth internet experience. These others could include the people you live with, your workplace, your school, your family, and a number of other circumstances.

A fast, stable internet connection is crucial to the efficiency of our lives. You rely on services like Netflix to watch movies or videos without interruptions.

Why is my VPN asking for a second password?

I have a VPN on my PC (L2TP/IPsec). I'm using the "Free" version, it's an IPsec vpn client.

In the IPsec Settings window, if I change the settings from Automatic to Manual, the following pops up and asks me for a password: The thing is, I only have one password for this account. Also, if I put my old login/password in, the settings window goes black, and then I can't do anything except close the window. I'm not sure what is going on. Any idea? Edit: It seems to be more of a problem when I try to open the settings, than to use them. I tried to do an "open settings" when the IPsec Settings window was closed, but it didn't work.

Also, I tried both logging in with my username/password, and the VPN password. The settings window goes black, and I can't do anything.

The only thing that I can do, is to restart the PC. When I start the VPN again, the same settings window shows up, asking for a second password, but it will accept my password.

I don't know why it would want another password, but at least it is accepting it now. You're missing the most important part of the IPsec tunnel configuration - the IKE configuration parameters. I am not 100% clear on this, but I think there are some things you need to configure in your IKE negotiation when the IPsec tunnel is set to manual. And by the way, you should never leave the default settings in that section of the interface settings dialog - it's very dangerous and easy to configure wrong. You want to leave the defaults of the IKE negotiation to the negotiated values.

If you cannot find the IKE configuration parameters in the 'manual' mode of your IPsec tunnel settings, you might be able to get some help from the vendor of the VPN software. You are correct, the IPsec protocol can be configured manually or automatically (auto negotiation). IKE (Internet Key Exchange) is a part of IPsec. It's a protocol that is used between the two endpoints, and makes sure that the exchange of data between them is encrypted.

How do I change my VPN login credentials?

You can change your VPN login credentials for an existing user account from the Settings tab on your device.

In the Settings app, select your profile (the last account you used), then select the VPN tab. To log in with a different VPN service, click the New button. Enter the new credentials for the service, then select Connect. Troubleshoot. I need help troubleshooting my home network. Open the Wi-Fi settings on your router and look for a connection called Home Network or Private Network. If you're not seeing this option, it may mean that you don't have any devices connected to the Internet. Use the Wifi menu on the router and click the Wi-Fi menu item to see what devices are currently connected to the network. If you see your router's IP address listed, then the network is working properly. If not, you may need to add the router's IP address to your router's internal address list. Some routers only allow you to access their network if you're connected directly to the router via Ethernet cable. If you have a wireless router, then you'll need to connect your computer directly to the router via a wired Ethernet cable.

When connected, open the router's web interface by entering https:// into the web browser and then typing in the router's IP address. You can also use the IP address found on the back of your router in the same web browser.

Once you've opened the web interface, click on the Wi-Fi menu item to see if your router is listed as an available network. If it is, you're connected. If it's not, follow the steps below.

If your router has a USB port, plug in an Ethernet cable and connect your router to a wired Ethernet port on your computer. If you don't have an Ethernet cable, you can use a wireless router to connect to your router. Connect your computer to the wireless router using the supplied cable. If you're using a wireless router, your computer will show the wireless router's name as an available network. If you see your router's IP address listed, then your router is working properly. If not, use the steps below.
