Why won't Facebook Dating let me change my location?
The Dating app seems to only accept your location if you live in the United States.
Why can't I change my location? The dating app, which is free, has received positive reviews from those who have used it. Users say it's easy to use and gives them a feel for someone before they decide to meet them.
It's been a few months since Facebook unveiled its new dating app, but it looks like people haven't even noticed. "I was very surprised at how easy it was," said Ashley B., 28, who added that she didn't even think it was a dating app until she went to the Facebook page of Match and it had "Dating" at the end. "I just clicked on it and it worked."
The Facebook app is one of three apps that Facebook has announced it is introducing as part of its "Year of the Apps" initiative. It's the first time Facebook has introduced a new dating app since its introduction in 2026.
The other two are an app called Poke that lets you send anonymous photos and videos to friends and an app called Slingshot that lets you add custom photos and videos to your status updates. "This year, we're bringing together the best of Facebook into a single experience, and the apps will be at the center of that," wrote Facebook in a post announcing the new apps. "You'll see a lot more of what you love about Facebook in the coming months."
The app was built by a team of about 25 employees who spent four months developing the app, and another 15 working on its mobile website, according to Mashable. On Tuesday, Facebook shared more details about the app and how it works. The dating app uses location to let you see who's nearby, and it also lets you add friends as "matches." If you add a friend as a match, you'll receive a notification if they log in to the app.
When you start the app, it scans your Facebook profile and suggests a list of friends you may want to add as matches.
Why is my location not changing on Facebook?
When I have my location disabled on Facebook, why isn't it changing the map in the "where am i" section?
It is changing my email address, but not my location. On the profile page, there is a button called 'update location'. Does that do anything? And why would Facebook use Gmail as an address? Google uses @gmail.com. There is no Gmail in that location.
Thanks for the feedback. Hi, we don't show maps when you are offline and/or on mobile. If your on desktop, please use your web browser. If you are on mobile please use our app or visit facebook.com/help
Thanks for the feedback. It's really interesting that you can disable your location on Facebook but on mobile can't. I have tried a variety of sites including my phone, but my location always stays at home. I would like to be able to access this information, since I am a high school coach and am always worried about someone hacking my Facebook info. Any suggestions?
