How do I add torrentio to Stremio?
How to add Torrent.
Io support into Stremio? We provide this guide for those who are looking to add support for an external app or service into Stremio. Please contact us here to create a plan for your needs and we'll make sure to get you set up quickly.
Step 1 - Register a Stremio account. Stremio has a free web browser based service available to all registered users so that they can check out their movie content from any desktop, tablet or smartphone and stream it to any device connected to the internet. You can do this either in private or anonymously so that you can decide how much you want your movies to be shared. For instance, if you choose to remain anonymous you won't have to worry about exposing yourself as a torrent user and there are no records of you sharing in the future. After setting up your Stremio account head to this page to register
Step 2 - Set up your VPN. You can use your own VPN provider or the free one that is offered by Stremio. You can use the Stremio free VPN service by signing up on their site and then you should see an option to install an app that is designed to keep your Internet traffic safe and anonymous. Install this app using a Mac or PC and once you are done you should have an encrypted tunnel between your computer and Stremio. The only thing that will remain in plain sight is the IP address that connects you to Stremio.
Step 3 - Use Torrent.io's official client.
Using the official Torrent.io client you need to add it as an available source. Follow the steps outlined in their own help guide.
Note: If you are doing this step on Windows it may be easiest to use the official client. If you have downloaded the trial version it will have a built in client that can be used by default on most devices. It can also be configured using a simple text editor like notepad to avoid making any mistakes or errors during the configuration.

Is Stremio still working?
When I was using Firefox, with the latest version of Stremio, it worked well.
However, since updating to Chrome, Firefox, I now find that Stremio will not play any video. Does anyone know if Stremio is still working in Chrome?
I'm using Stremio on chrome through a webview, although when starting the stream it takes me to the app's web page and starts watching the video there. After the first video, the video player goes back to the browser, without any indication of any kind of error.
If your question is if Stremio works with Chrome on Android, the answer is no. If you are wondering about Stremio on desktop, the answer is Yes, it works with Chrome on PC.
@chrisreynolds That's why people still use Firefox, because Google blocks stuff like this. They claim it's an extension problem, but who knows. And there's been no update or warning as of yet. Just some guy posting an issue on their forum.
@Svoboda that is actually a feature. If one of our users reports a problem to us, it means that someone had a similar problem before. The fact that he's using a different browser doesn't matter here, what matters is his use case.
This is a real concern, I've found out that the video is just a preview (i mean the preview I see). It never starts playing. I think you need to check the permissions the browser grants for web content in general.
@chrisreynolds Firefox is definitely not being blocked by Google. It uses the same extensions as Chrome, and we have confirmed that it works fine for us on other laptops using Windows, iOS, OS X, and Linux. I know that it doesn't work at all for our android users, so that's probably why he wants to leave and try another browser.
@chrisreynolds We're sorry that our service didn't work out for you and hope that the issue gets resolved soon. If the error continues and you'd still want to switch browsers, you can also visit this page that lets you export your data from Stremio and move over to another browser.
Can I use Stremio without VPN?
Yes. It has always been possible to watch Stremio outside of the USA using a VPN that redirects all your traffic to the US. In the last months, however, Stremio has made a dramatic change to their algorithm, meaning that while you can use it today, it will no longer function as well as previously unless you use a VPN. So it's important that you update to the latest version and use a VPN.
Why should I use a VPN? Stremio will be working well for the majority of viewers if you use a VPN. The reason for this is that Stremio runs on the Netflix IP address. But the Netflix IP address is based in the United States. A VPN is a network tool that is used to hide your data and your location and it means that your Internet traffic looks different than it does if you don't use a VPN. Once a streamer has joined a platform like Stremio, we then track how many people from that location visit our site - it's a simple math equation and is why they have always required a VPN.
How can I use a VPN with Stremio? There are several ways to use a VPN with Stremio. You could use an OpenVPN client on your computer to connect to a VPN and connect to your Wi-Fi network. When you connect this way, your traffic would look like coming from the United States - and it would work just like it would on your home connection. We recommend an OpenVPN client because it is easy and fast and can get you connected quickly. One excellent example of such a program is TunnelBear, which also works as a browser extension. Another popular solution is to use an Android or iOS mobile device which connects to a VPN. We also recommend OpenVPN for mobile use.
For both desktop and mobile, we recommend a VPN from NordVPN or Private Internet Access. These companies do great work, are secure, and there's nothing that they can ever tell anyone about your usage habits - and there's no chance that your government can ever access their servers to see what you did. And they both have excellent customer service.
