I didn't know how to use this site at all, so I thought I'd ask. I'm running Windows 7, and Chrome isn't working on it, so I downloaded Firefox. I wanted to try uploading some files that I found on here so I could try editing them. However, I get a message telling me to select a file from my computer. What do I do? Also, what kind of files should I be uploading?

Hello. It's not the best solution for a link to be working as a download (this only works with Chrome or an old version of Firefox), but when you upload a file and then press enter you'll see it appear on the server. As for what files to upload, it depends. Most often, images, or the audio/video files. But if you want to test your website on a web server you may have to work around that. Then again, why would you want to upload a file from a website, lol.

So for most web servers, if the file exists, then you'll see it on the screen. If it doesn't, then you need to work around that. This can be tricky if you have a different domain than the one that serves the files that you're trying to access.

Hope that helps! :). If you uploaded files that are larger than 2MB, the file manager will prompt you to confirm the action in your browser's address bar. For example, here's what I see when I've uploaded a zip file that's 5MB and the extension is set to . When you first get to a file's page, you'll see a green padlock over the top right corner. This is your browser's 'verified' checkmark, which you see in Firefox but not in IE, Safari, or Chrome. You can click it once to say you verified it and you won't see the green check mark again.

You can also click a link that says 'Download' to confirm you want to download the file.
