How to download a PDF that cannot be saved?

I've had a problem for a while.

I'm using a PDF reader that I don't like, so I wanted to download a file and try it out. I googled around, but came up with nothing. The closest I could get was this page:

You can download any file from Google Drive using the following URL. You can find your own Google Drive ID (username) by going to your Dashboard, then Settings, then click on "View your Drive.

The above URL will give you a view of the file, or alternatively if you want to download it you can use the URL below. I have never tried this method, so I am not sure how it works. If the method does not work, you can download the file by using the Chrome extension "Save from Google Drive", I do not know if it supports the above method.

How do I remove the lock from a PDF?

I have PDFs that were downloaded from the internet.

In a couple of them the file has a lock symbol on it, so the file can't be opened by anyone else. How do I remove the lock?

The file extension is set to ".pdf.lock". This is a special file type that contains encryption instructions for the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you download a PDF and the file extension is "locked" then you will need to delete the file extension and save the file. In my case I have saved the file as .txt.lock
Then I opened it in my editor and changed the extension to .txt Then I saved the file as .pdf and that worked for me.

I downloaded some of the PDFs and found they had a lock icon on them. If you right click on the file, select Properties and then open the "Compatibility" tab, the option to change the file extension from ".lock" to something else is there.

If you do not see this option, try right-clicking on the PDF icon and choosing "Properties".
