Is there custom duty on gifts to USA?

Is there custom duty on gifts to USA?

We got a nice little wooden cross which we want to bring in from Russia to the USA, for our son's graduation, the date is July 24.

Any issues or problems with customs? The gift would go through a normal clearance process at the port of entry and then the final destination customs office should have no problem releasing it to the recipient. The only thing I can think of is the recipient having to pay any taxes if it is an income producing asset. You should be fine, if it is just going from Russia to the US, Customs officials should know that it is a graduation gift and not a business gift and therefore they will not open a case, assuming you are flying. They may ask for ID or some paperwork from you, though.

How do you declare a shipment as a gift?

To begin with, you need to place the order form as a Gift Order.

You can then add an email address in the notes field that will be used by the recipient to notify you of shipping and to receive special processing instructions. There is no minimum order quantity for this type of shipping and you don't have to do any additional setup, either.

It's good to know that there is no restriction when it comes to shipping a gift as a gift. That's one more detail we should have included in our Shipping Page!

Do I need a customs declaration for a gift?

I am not really sure if I need to declare a value for the gifts that I am getting from the states.

Which is the best way to send your US dollars to USA without paying any duty on it?

I am not in a hurry to send my dollars but would like to know which is the best way to go about it. Please help with any information. All money which is not exempt from duty must be entered into a customs form and you will then receive a copy of this form called a D-1560 form. These forms are available in banks. If you have any questions regarding this type of money transfer please feel free to ask us for more details. Hope this helps. Your site provided us with valuable information to work on.
