How do I restrict apps in settings?

Can you restrict specific apps on iPhone?

This is a discussion on ?

Within the General Apple Discussions forums, part of the Community Boards category; I had read somewhere that in order to lock down all the iphone apps in a way similar to a jail . I'd like to know if it is possible to "restrict" one, two or more apps that I can prevent my kid from opening. I'm aware that there are many ways to restrict apps like by pinning them or using the Restrictions App. But I was just curious if there's any easy way to block them via iTunes or otherwise? Are there any other apps that do this for example?

You can create a new folder on your phone. There are many apps that will help to do it for you. But most of the time I don't bother. Just delete whatever app is in your dock and they will go back to being open. And when your kid starts crying about the iphone being locked, all it will take is 2 or 3 taps to unlock it.

There is no way. You either create a folder for you own stuff or let them have their own thing on your phone. It's just a way for you to be in control and not give it to them.

Yes you can create a folder as jaybee mentioned and it works fine with the restrictions feature of iPadOS 9. However you'll then have to delete all those shortcuts from the phone as they have different names to what Apple calls them. If this isn't something you want to have on your phone go with Apple's solution, they've given you the choice. It works on the iPad though, as the parent can choose which Apps they want to be accessible and which can only be opened by the child.

The next logical step in the App Store security process is locking your apps on your phone to stop them from being accessed by other users. How you lock your apps is only a single step toward ensuring your data and device are completely safe, and that's why iOS 10 gives you more tools to help you maintain a secure iTunes library. One of the coolest security features that Apple introduced in its new mobile operating system is the ability to lock apps so that they won't be available to other users. There are two ways to use your locked apps in your library. In fact, there are three if you download apps to your SD card.

Can you set limits on apps on iPhone?

I'd like to have a list of apps that I can approve to access my data.

They can't be too hard to understand, but I don't want them to be too easy either. For example, I don't want to allow WhatsApp to access my contacts. But, I'd like to be able to allow them to access data that is on the phone and not in the cloud. I want to be able to set up some limits.

I think that I'd need to do this in the app itself, but I'd like to know if there is a way to do this on the phone. No. You cannot restrict apps like this on an iPhone.

How do I restrict apps in settings?

I need to restrict my iPad to downloading apps, because I only have one credit on my iPad, and my family is already struggling with their credit card!

My daughter will NOT get any more apps until she gets a new credit card. And by then, she won't be able to buy apps for her device. I don't want the kids and my wife using up our data.95
I am not interested in buying an iPhone; I have 4 iPhones at work and none of them have the same problems I am having on my iPad. I'm no engineer, but it's not like this can't be done, right? I mean, there's no reason why you couldn't add another service to your monthly data plan. I think what they need to do is offer a cheaper plan or 2, to people that don't download a lot of media, which would solve the problem.

If you're willing to pay for it, you could get a SIM with a limited data plan, so if you do use up your data, you don't go over. To prevent the kid from buying apps with a credit card, you can disable the iTunes app store completely. All you have to do is go into your preferences, go to the Apps tab and then make sure that "iTunes Store" is checked. Then you can't even browse for apps or buy any. You'll have to purchase them via a different method.

You should get yourself a new data plan or 2. If you can manage to get a family discount with a larger data plan, that's the way to go.

I know. The solution I came up with has to do with data plans. Your family can buy one, and you can get one for you and your wife. It can easily be added to an existing plan, so it's easy to budget your money. You get the data plan, and when you go over, it disconnects from the network, so you get off the network. If you're only doing some light downloading, that's fine.
