How can I block apps on my child's Android phone?
I've been trying to find a way to block apps on my child's Android phone (without actually jailbreaking) without any luck. I tried downloading the Google Play Store app and deleting it (this worked, I no longer had the Play Store app) and then re-downloading the Play Store app with the Play Store app still installed and then deleting it, and that also worked. But now when I go to the Play Store app and search for an app, it still shows up in my search results.
The apps that I want to block are apps that I don't want my child to use. It's not that I don't trust her, but that she has such limited knowledge of the internet. For example, she loves to use Candy Crush Saga. I'm not comfortable with her downloading an app that I have no control over. I would prefer that she use Google Play instead. I have heard that I can block apps using Google Play, but I don't know how to do it.
I have an Android phone (Galaxy S3), so that makes this a little easier for me. But if there's a way to do this on an Android tablet, it would be awesome.
I would like to block apps without jailbreaking. Is there a way to do this? I don't think you can block apps. This is something you can do if you jailbreak your phone.
I'm in the same boat as you. My child needs to learn how to be safe online, and I don't want to put myself in a situation where I have to find every app she uses, find out what it is, and then delete it.
However, I have an Android phone, and I have read that Google Play Store apps can be blocked. I'm not sure what it takes to do this. If you have found a way to block Google Play Store apps, please let me know.
I have searched for a way to do this, but I can't find a way to block Google Play Store apps. It seems like this would be the easiest thing to do because I know that Google Play Store apps are the only ones that will work on my phone.
I know I can block Google Play Store apps because the Play Store app still works when I delete it. However, I don't know how to block Google Play Store apps from a specific app.
Is there a way to restrict certain apps?
I've noticed that certain apps are installed and used on my iPhone even though I don't use them. Is there a way to restrict certain apps from being installed and used? As far as I know, there is no way to restrict apps from being installed. You can, however, set restrictions for the amount of space that apps will consume.
The iPhone will automatically uninstall an app if it uses too much space. If you don't want an app to be installed, simply don't install it.
Can I block certain apps on Android?
I looked up the disclaimer and legal protection around privacy and stuff, but one thing stuck out. It has a part which says that as long as the disclaimer and privacy statements are followed, you cannot use the program as a means to block what goes on the phone.
I'm talking about more like 2 apps. One has root and one doesn't.
I tried AirDroid and while I can see the data, I cannot see any of the root actions, so I'm guessing that I have to communicate to the root app to stop the non-root app from using my data. Especially since the non-root apps have permissions to my text messages.
I'd like to restrict the non-root app from using my data, but I'd like to do it by law. If it is totally up to me, I block the root app for life. The reason I want to do it legally is because I don't want my data to be misused, and if it won't allow it, then root will have to be my legal means of dealing with it. Right now, it's coldplay's fault and it has to be changed, so I'm making it my fault and not his. If he is, then I will gladly take away all his apps and stop talking to him for a few months. But I am not allowing that to happen since I've done nothing wrong. So legally, I'm blocking him and then I still won't allow him to root or reinstall it if he asks.
If anyone has any insight, I'd be interested. There are a number of apps in the Play Store that will block some applications with three clicks. I believe the most popular one is from a developer called DannyVer. You can block apps using them.
Candy codes? Really? I'd like to see a workable way to do this in Android for real. Applications that are designed to harm the OS experience are not a law breaker so courts haven't found it necessary as yet to limit what anyone does with their phones. The real issue would be if some application was installed which would do great damage to the phone, but by happy coincidence, had root privileges and was able to get in and delete your certificate. Whether or not the court would agree that's a security threat is unclear.
How do I restrict access to apps on Android?
I'm working on a new project, and as of now we've decided that the user will have to login with a Google account, but each user will have a different Google account. However, I would like each user to be able to use all the apps that the other users on the same device have installed.
Is this possible on Android, and if so, how/where do I set it up so that the user has full access to all the apps that the user has previously downloaded on their own device (or devices that are synced), but then they cannot access the apps that other users download? You shouldn't do this. If you give your users full access to one account, they will have full access to all accounts on the device.
What you can do is check what apps are installed on the device. If the user has installed an app, you could show them all the apps that have the same package name.
