I'm using OurPact on my Iphone and my texts show up there as just numbers but when I try to call a number that's listed as 'Text message' on the OurPact app the call is not answered.

Can anyone tell me if I can read text messages on this? I only want to read text messages in private messages, so am I going to have to delete ourPact and then re-download it? Thanks! You can read text messages. The issue is that the phone does not know what type of call it is. So when you call someone, it shows as a call, but when it is actually a text message, the phone does not know it. So I suggest you change your ringtone to something else or maybe send a text message to the number you are calling before making the call. I had the same issue when I downloaded MyTexting. I would get calls but text messages were sent and received. I have since found out that the problem was my ringtone and I changed it back to the default. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. But I don't think I've changed the ringtone. I think I have two ringtones, one for normal calls, one for text messages. I think I could change the second one but I don't remember changing the first.

I find their phones everywhere in their rooms and on the ground or in the bathroom. I've tried setting up an iPod for them to use as a learning tool, but they aren't interested. Is there a way to set up monitoring software so I know when they're using the phone and have a chance to check their phone records?
Here are some things I think will help: When my kids were older, I bought them their own phones. It's easier for us to monitor now that they're at home with their phones.
We've started putting phone time limits on our phones. This is a step that I think might help you, too.
We also have a rule about no phones at meals. We monitor all conversations, and have a rule about "the talk". My kids know that anything that's not "the talk" is not allowed.
For the 11 year old, we actually put the phone into a container after dinner. He usually uses it in the morning, but I'd be willing to bet that he uses it most afternoons.

So, I guess I'm trying to come up with a solution that doesn't involve me trying to change their personality or forcing them to behave like "normal" kids. You probably want to find a filter that only allows a limited amount of time for phone calls and texts, then a filter that only lets them send/receive texts or make calls, and another that doesn't allow them to call anyone, ever.
