How do I fix proxy settings in Windows 11?

Why is my proxy server not working Windows?

I have a proxy server (LiteSpeed) on my Linux computer. I followed the documentation here and the one here, and created /etc/init.d/proxy with all the necessary commandline arguments. Then I started that script in /etc/init.d:
#!
# Description: This file is used to configure. # the proxy server. ### END INIT INFO. /etc/inittab This works fine. My client (Windows 7) is connected directly to the internet without the help of my proxy. There's no problem connecting to the proxy server via HTTP. However, when it tries to connect to an SSL-secured site (such as yahoo.com) it gives me a popup "Connecting" window and then a "Windows Networking - Connection Refused" window after 1 or 2 minutes. As if it's using the proxy server but it hasn't properly started it.

The proxy configuration in the Control Panel looks right, as you can see here. The Advanced settings in the Internet Options are correct too.0 for both http and https ports.

It was something stupid I didn't see. The domain that I was running my proxy on had been recently changed (from example.com to proxy2.com)

How do I enable proxies in Windows 11?

There has been lots of information out there, but I can't seem to find one that states what the windows "settings" are actually called in english, I'm not sure if these settings are on or off.

In the options for the internet settings there is an option for http proxies. What is this called in english? and in the options for networking and dns how do I specify the "proxy for LAN usage" there is a "proxy server" field, this appears to be "turn off", or "on-off". What are these called in english? Re: ? As far as I know Windows 10 uses an external DNS resolver like Google's Cloud DNS which is a free service that works perfectly for LAN users without any extra setup and with better reliability than a local DNS server provided by the Windows OS (see "External DNS resolver"). Unfortunately Windows seems to have neglected this feature since Windows 8.1, but this seems to be fixed now with Windows 10. It's not perfect since it's still using a local DNS resolver by default and not using Cloud DNS by default.

I'll agree with this. Is a really simple way of adding more external DNS servers, not a proxy though. I know this because I also used it at work for the same reason. If you are running a static IP then you need to set the DNS server in your ISP or your router. The Windows settings for networking have changed dramatically from earlier versions. For instance, to set the DNS server of a new Windows user from within the OS I had to follow steps which included opening the GUI, go to control panel and open network and sharing center. Go to advanced sharing settings, pick a new advanced sharing settings tab, and there was a setting for 'proxy servers' which didn't even exist on Windows 8. The exact equivalent tab is called "Manage Network Settings" and contains options for the Advanced sharing settings too.

Thanks for the info.

How do I fix proxy settings in Windows 11?

I have a problem in Windows 11 where I cannot configure my internet connection.

This is the result of Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) showing that there is no internet connection:

This is a wireless internet connection and it seems that the "proxy settings" are not working. However, in the IPv4 settings (in the network & Internet settings) I can configure this connection: What is the problem? In the Internet Properties, go to the "LAN Settings" tab. You will see your adapter in there. Click on it. You should see a "Proxy settings" link in the bottom right corner. Click it and see if you can change the proxy settings from Automatic to manual or vice versa. If the settings are set to automatic, try changing them to manual. If the settings are set to manual, change them back to automatic.

You can also try to change the network adapter to "Ad-hoc network", and see if you can get a IP address for it. If that works, you can then change the settings for that network adapter back to automatic. That may fix your problem.
