How do I get YouTube to open in browser instead of app?

What is the difference between YouTube in Safari and YouTube app?

Is there a difference between YouTube in Safari and in the YouTube App on iOS?

From my experience the following happens when I use the YouTube app: I get an unresponsive App (Safari sometimes is). If I close the app by hand it will not open up again unless I reinstall the app. When I switch to the home screen the video freezes/stops playing. If I use the Safari (without YouTube), it works perfectly. Now, if I play a video via the YouTube app using Safari, it plays perfectly but also stops responding (unresponsive) and it must be killed manually to restart it, but when I try to play another video the Safari app crashes and the video stops playing. Here is the screenshot of the errors I get every time: If you don't have a computer, you can use a Mac. While your PC has no problem with videos, the Mac may give the same type of problem.

This is because the OS does not play well with "high resolution" video content. You can set your default video settings here, and see what it's doing on MacOS: Under System Preferences > General > Displays, I'm only seeing "2160p" as the maximum. You might want to change that to something higher: In the YouTube app on iPhone, open the Settings and make sure you've got the latest version. The iPhone will automatically try to sync your videos from PC to iPhone. But if there is too much content, it could break YouTube, so you'll need to make sure the phone isn't syncing too much. You can manually remove any videos from your phone, too.

How do I play YouTube on Safari not the app?

Apple has blocked YouTube by default for Safari.

I have uninstalled all the apps related to safari on my Mac. But now when I open a youtube link on safari it starts the browser app not playing the video. How do I make the browser play the video instead of the browser?

Macrumors 6502. You can also go into the Apple menu, then click on System Preferences, and then click on Internet plug-ins. Click on the button that says Safari, then go to the tab that says Plug-ins, and select YouTube as an Application. The "Safari" tab should no longer be in the list of applications, and that's the tab where you can select YouTube as the application to be used.

Thread startermacrumors 6502. Thanks! I had to remove YouTube again as it was preventing the app from working properly. Youtube was working fine on the OSX, but as soon as I installed safari and then youtube it started working but once in a while, on a new view of youtube video it suddenly shows the browser and the text that says "I can't play this file" or something, if I close the app and reopen it goes normal, but once it happens every time on different youtube videos. I tried the app with VLC, no difference. With other programs, such as music player or other non-video browsers, it works perfectly.

How do I get YouTube to open in browser instead of app?

I have Windows 10 and I use Chrome.

I have the app installed, but when I click on a video link it opens in the YouTube app instead of the browser. I have to hit the X to close the app. I want it to open in the browser. How do I fix this?

Try changing your default browser setting in Internet Explorer. Open Internet Explorer, then press ctrl-i and search for "Default programs". Find the program you want to be your default browser and select it. Click on "Set this as my default program" and select OK.

You should now be able to go to any web site and it will open in your default browser (the one you set above) instead of the app.
