What is the best VPN protocol for gaming Reddit?
P2P
There are many good VPN protocols that are perfect for gaming.
P2P is no longer the only way to go. OpenVPN, OpenConnect, IPsec, and IPsec/OpenVPN hybrid are all excellent protocols. However, the best protocol will vary by your need for anonymity and security.
For some people, using a P2P-only VPN is the best option. The reason is because the majority of gamers are using P2P. If you have a choice between a P2P-only VPN and a VPN that does a combination of P2P and tunneled connections, you should choose the latter because it will likely give you better performance.
The reason why you'll have better performance is because tunneled connections can route through a VPN server without having to use a peer-to-peer connection. This is because tunneling is faster than P2P.
It depends on what you are using it for. If it's just gaming, then I'd say OpenVPN is probably the best choice. If you're looking for more privacy, then you'd probably want IPsec/OpenVPN. I don't know much about the others, but I don't think it's worth the effort to research them if you're not planning to use them for gaming.
