How do I remove a school administrator from my Chromebook?
I'm about to send this e-mail and I'm hoping that any teacher with kids at the same school can tell me the answer.
I've never heard a response to it. The last administrator who had any contact with me is an "assistant principal." It's been 9 years since I've been taught at any of her schools. Last time I had anything done to this computer was in 2024, where she wrote something like this.
It is time to replace this laptop/tablet. Your school has decided that we have an iPad loaner which we are supposed to return after using it for 30 days. Our administration is under direction to find you a replacement laptop that you will use for 30 days.
This means you have 30 days from today (end of December) to get a new device. After that day, I can only send one of you an account of the amount used and a list of apps with usage information. We will do our best to maintain data.
I also am told that the assistant principal is not to be around you, and has directed that no one speak to you during your 30 day trial of the new laptop. Her reasoning is that we don't know if you have used an email address other than that used for your administrative purposes.
I did call the school this afternoon to follow up on the reason for not being able to talk with the school. I never did get answer. After all of these years of having administrators that I did not see, and then not seeing them anymore, it seems silly to me.
I'm trying to keep my cool with the administration. However, since this is the last administrator that I worked with when I started this job, there is nobody else.
When I'm able to use this laptop again, I'll go through the process of transferring the information from my current device to the new one. I'm going to try calling to see if they would like a refund. I'd still like to find out why they didn't want me to have any contact with them or her, though. What is the justification for that? No contact is different than no interaction at all, so why would there be any reason at all?
You will have to contact a school administrator to have the request processed.
How do I remove school restrictions from my Chromebook?
If you are at school you can turn off all restrictions or apply it for only this program.
If you open the program on your computer and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can see which programs and settings you are allowed to open or use.
Click 'open web browser' under Restricted software and apps. When you open the browser, make sure Chrome is in the drop-down menu and select 'School computers only' in the drop-down menu. Click 'Open'.
NOTE: The 'Restricted web sites' and 'Internet access' features are not available to end users. They only affect programs and apps that are part of a school-based program. See more info on School computers only here.
NOTE: In Windows, you can also access the list of installed programs and allow or deny them access to the internet. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Program Manager. Open Windows Firewall & Internet Connection Sharing. Open the Programs tab and go to the bottom of the window. Click 'Allow program to access this item'. Select the program, check the 'Access this item when I'm online' box and click 'Install'. If you have added a new program in Settings or Device preferences, you may need to restart to let the firewall rules for this item take effect.
How do I remove a program from a Chromebook? Open the program you wish to remove and either delete the data or change the permissions to 'allow' or 'deny'. Close the program. Go back to the Chromebook's Chrome Apps Settings (as per above step) and click Remove app and clear any data. This will clear the app and delete the data. Note that for the app to be removed, you must close the program after you complete step 1.
To apply this for apps or programs on your desktop PC, use the same steps but go to Step 2, click 'Apply to both' and select 'Remove programs that are listed in my other devices and apps'. To see more options, select 'Advanced settings' then 'App and program permission'. Go to the 'Block programs from accessing other things on this device' tab and check what you want for each program.
How to access settings on Chromebook when blocked by administrator?
I have a public facing school that blocks the use of any personal devices.
All students use Chromebooks, and they are allowed to use only their designated Google account for logging in. However, it is possible to bypass this by using my personal email address to login (not sure if this is how it is done, but I am guessing so). When I try to log in with my personal email address it tells me that I am blocked. If I use the school's email address it says the password is wrong. I know that I can reset my password if I want, but I want to access the settings on the Chromebook and reset my security questions, or at least change the email address that is used to access it. Is there a way to do this?
When you enter your password at the lock screen, it should ask you whether you want to allow this device to connect to your Google account. Select "Connect with my account" and enter your account details.
How do I unblock Chrome extensions from administrator?
If you see a Could not load extension: chrome.
Url error in Google Chrome, then you have blocked the extension by mistake or accidentally. If that's the case, you can fix it by unblocking the extensions in Google Chrome's browser menu. Here is how to do so:
Open Google Chrome browser, go to the menu, and click on the three dots icon. Then click on Settings. Now you will see a list of Extensions, Apps & Themes along with some tabs. Right-click on any Extension/App and click on Uninstall. Do the same for all other extensions/apps. Click on Settings and click on Manage Add-ons. Now there will be a Load and Manage Extensions section, where you can load all extensions from the Chrome Web Store. Just select any extension and load it.
Note that there is a Load and Manage Extensions button, which is present only if you have installed some add-ons. Also, there is a View your extensions option present, where you can view all installed extensions. It should look like this: The last step is to click on Use the add-on from and select Allow from the Chrome Web Store. Note that if the extension is from the Chrome Web Store, you won't have any Could not load extension: chrome.url error in Chrome browser.
If the above steps did not help you, then you can try downloading an extension from Chrome Web Store, installing it and then uninstalling it and reloading it. But don't forget that the extension will be reloaded by Google Chrome every time you open it.
Chrome update breaks extensions? If you don't use extensions or if you have disabled them completely, then you won't get the Could not load extension: chrome. This happens because Chrome doesn't check whether the extension is blocked or not in such cases.
Fix Could not load extension: chrome.
