How much does Findmykids cost?

We have two accounts.

One is a regular Findmykids account and one is for our personal account for our daughters.

What types of fees do they charge? If you want to cancel, your refund will be given back to your card within the same month that you signed up for it. If you cancel after the first two weeks, you will still receive an automatic notification in the event that you haven't heard back from them. You can also opt to not have a monthly fee but you will have to pay for the actual service on a per-call basis.

How do you know if your kids are getting lost? This service is completely free. You won't get any messages in your inbox or phone calls. Each time that they do show up, you will get a text and email letting you know where they are at in terms of age and location. If you like the service, you can sign up for free unlimited usage and no commitment. You can opt out any time you want.

I've been reading about parents getting their kids' information from these services and I'm not sure what to think. Some parents are upset that they've gotten these messages saying their child is lost. But other parents seem fine with it. It's like the little lost child has found his/her parents. It's hard to imagine how a lost child would text their parents. But the other thought that I had was, "I wonder if these services keep any record of the phone numbers that parents use so they can block them?" I've heard this mentioned many times and wonder how true it is. Are there any parents out there that have had their numbers blocked and if so, what happened?

The person who received the messages, told us that this service didn't use phone numbers to do the search, just IP addresses (computer address), and sometimes GPS coordinates. But, we knew that the mother is registered at our school (the GPS coordinate was for the school) so we knew she was using the same phone number on her mobile phone. The service couldn't tell if that was a different phone or not. This is probably why they aren't telling us that the phone number is being blocked.

How to track your kids' location?

By: Shubhra Gupta.

? When my husband and I started our family, we knew the drill. If were going to travel, our baby was welcome in our car, the front seat, but only if he or she was strapped in an infant seat.

We did not want our kid in our backseat, unless were playing music or watching TV because the backseat is a no-no zone for babies and small children. I've been surprised by the number of parents I know who do not know this rule, but have the most shocking stories of being kidnapped in a moving car because their small child was playing with the parent in the backseat while the rest of the family looked in the rear-view mirror or peered into the back of the car, waiting for the other car that never appeared. Thankfully, now there are ways to track whether your child is where they're supposed to be at any given time. You can use technology and other gadgets that can help you stay on top of your kid's whereabouts to the point that if you find your child missing, it's your last-resort, "if we don't do anything else" plan.

A GPS tracker. You might think you would need to spend a lot of money on a device that keeps track of your kid's location in real time. That's not necessarily true, although it does take a good chunk of change.

For instance, SkyWatch has a number of choices, including options that are GPS-enabled and others that connect via Bluetooth, cellphone, Wi-Fi or internet and run on apps such as Google Maps, iOS or Android. The SkyWatch devices come in three sizes. But you don't have to break the bank to keep tabs on your kid's location.
