Can you scrape LinkedIn with Python?

Is web scraping allowed on LinkedIn?

I am trying to scrape some data from LinkedIn, and would like to know if it is allowed or not.

I have seen that they say that scraping is not allowed. I am using the Python library mechanize. I would like to know if I get a warning or not.

I know it depends on the site and the IP of the user, but can someone give me an advice? LinkedIn doesn't specify that scraping is forbidden, they only specify that scraping their pages without obtaining their prior written consent is forbidden. It's probably a better idea to use Scrapy (which is a very good project with a great community).

Can LinkedIn ban you for scraping?

If you've been following this blog or looking at my LinkedIn page, you'll know that I'm quite the LinkedIn enthusiast.

After several failed attempts to build a business and job online with various sites, I switched to LinkedIn. I quickly realised that it was a very good site for job seekers, and I became a power user (aka someone who has mastered their profile) within a few months. I even got some interest from recruiters and recruiters were actually happy to see that I am a power user, as it shows that I am serious about my career and will put in the effort to grow my career. Even better, I had received some recruiters asking me to be their lead. Then I heard that LinkedIn can ban you from their platform if you scrape their data or steal/scrape too much. Here is a screenshot of my LinkedIn page: As you can see, all the profiles are connected and the whole network is there. If someone wanted to search for jobs in all the companies listed on my LinkedIn, they would easily be able to do so without any trouble. I think that most of us would agree that if someone wants to steal our data, they should also have access to all the companies we work at or the clients we've worked for. That's why I thought that LinkedIn should definitely limit the ability to connect to your account. That way, people like myself would not be able to steal their profiles and data, but they would still be able to search for new jobs. Is LinkedIn going to ban me? As soon as LinkedIn announced the updates, a lot of people were confused by it and they got upset about the changes. As a company, they are not going to ban people if they scrape their profile or use their data. They just want to make sure that their users don't get in trouble for this activity. I don't think that LinkedIn are going to ban anyone, because they have been working on this for quite some time. They can't spend so much time working on a feature and not release it yet, so they decided to take a bit more time.
