How do I find recent Rentals on Amazon Prime?

Prime Rentals has launched in the new Amazon Video app for iOS, Android, the web, Kindle Fire tablets and Fire phones.

Amazon offers one-day free trials of its streaming service (currently known as Amazon Video) but there are a few steps you need to take before you can actually watch rentals. If you want to find the titles most recently added to Netflix, Vudu, Hulu Plus, and Cinema Now streaming services to stream at Amazon Prime, read this article. We'll also tell you about a new way to find those movies at a discount.

Note: All Amazon. Prime subscribers are provided with certain content at no additional charge, including free, unlimited access to movies, TV shows, Amazon music, Kindle books and games in Prime Instant Video.

You can sign up to access Amazon Prime now, or at a later time if you decide to renew your subscription. The following steps work for all of Amazon Prime's online services (including Prime Music), Kindle, Kobo eBook Readers, and Amazon Apps for iOS, Android, Web, Fire Tablet and Fire Phone. Once you're signed up, you can immediately start watching Amazon Rentals (also called "Amazon Originals"), movies for Prime's own streaming service, Amazon Video (formerly known as "Amazon Video-on-Demand") or anything else from Amazon Marketplace (or 'Amazon Prime Instant Video' if you prefer), including the recently added movies you can download to your Fire tablet or phone right now. You'll notice in the Amazon Video area a link labeled "Watch free", and when you click it, you'll find some older items currently available for streaming or downloading. It's been a while since I visited this site, and I have good news!

This week I'm going to start my weekly visit to the front page of IMDB, the Internet Movie Database, which holds all of the films currently showing in the United States (which means that it includes foreign films and films released in multiple territories, like Australia, etc). I'm going to do a weekly list of movies from there, so you know what movies are new. Each day I'll do the one movies from that day, and you're more than welcome to visit my page on that day to look at the list for that day.

Here's how it will work: I'm going to visit the front page of IMDB once a week, once a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It's a simple way of keeping on top of the movies.

Every day, I'm going to have a list of new movies with my analysis of them and other thoughts on the film itself. On each of these days, I'm going to link to my site, with the list of new movies posted on that day. If you want the movies listed weekly and for any day of the week (thereby not just on a Sunday) then you will need to become a member of the site. The 'membership' is free to non-paying users - the basic membership is free for anyone - but when you sign in, you can set up your own personal subscription, which will show you the newest movies every day. There are also cheaper 'premium' levels, which gives you an ad-free website. See IMDB's help pages for more information about how to do this.

For the next few weeks, I'm going to give you a run through each of the new movies I have seen or have some further thoughts on. I'll do my best to post a blog on each day that it has some new movies shown in the US. But I realise that as my life gets more and more busy, this may not always be possible. If you only look at the 'new movies' lists on Sundays, there will be no new movie posts during the week. But if you subscribe to my personal list, you'll always be updated.

Does Prime have new releases?

No, but for an interesting reason.

While Prime is all about quality, the goal isn't to have new products with every update (though we do release new editions of existing products). Instead, we want to create things like the C.E.O. Or D., which can be just as good, if not better than existing products, but are the first of their kind.

In Prime-speak, we refer to these as "Experiments" and I think they fit that role. By being firsts, I think they often set the standard for later iterations. There's nothing wrong with a good incremental change, but Prime has this inbuilt need to create first-mover experimentation.

What's the process for creating Experiments? The biggest challenge with that is the level of quality you need in something that's still very much in development. There's no way you could make something of that quality and be ready to ship in early 2024, so we focus a lot of our energy on building the foundational tools and then letting the community develop them.

It's a bit like the difference between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, except we're talking about a tool that'll shape our photography/photo editors for years to come. The core of a product is always going to be more critical than the bells and whistles (such as presets, special features and so on) -- it's the core that defines the product. We're constantly iterating on that part of a product and refining it for the benefit of current and future users.

We're looking for people who can bring our vision to reality, especially ones who have never done anything like this before. You'd need to have some experience with photography (I would imagine), but also have a background in software. Your application has to be something we've not seen before and we want to create something that will appeal to you. If you have what it takes, apply to be one of the Experiment C.

What if I don't have a big team to work on a new feature? Great. We have a number of smaller experiments that are being developed right now.
