How do I remove parental controls on Google kids without password?
I understand that if I remove parental controls by going to Google Kids settings/accounts/remove parental controls, it requires me to enter a password for the PC which has parental controls. What if I don't know my PC's password? Is there a way to reset the password from Windows command prompt or from Android and unlock the Google Kids without entering the password? You can use a third-party tool. Such as this one.
This is not malware. The following commands worked for me (Google Drive) and should work with Google Kids. First, install any version of the above tool. (It's free and ad-supported.) The download page says they've changed their program since the last time I tried this, so I'll say that it might need a manual installation.
Go to your download folder on your PC. Open it. Find the install folder. Run the installer. It will ask you to run the setup file. Do so.
The setup will start and then display the main menu. Start with clicking on Help. If you want, you can also make a copy of the userdata.txt file.
Go to the same directory where you installed the program. Open a terminal and navigate to the location you copied the text file. Type: copy /b C:Users
NOTE: The Google Kids account was made after this tool was first released. If that's your issue, you'll have to re-install the program.
Then. Start the tool and click on Settings. Click on "Remove". When it asks you to enter a password, enter one that only you know. Hit OK. You can then go to Google Kids to ensure it's gone, and then reinstall the program.
