Is playwright better than Selenium?

Is Selenium outdated?

I am wondering if Selenium is outdated?

I've heard good things about NUnit and also some other frameworks like C#, but I've never used them. Has Selenium been replaced with something else? If not, is it still a viable option for testing web applications? In the last few years, there has been a lot of new advances in web testing technology. Here is a list of a few: Selenium IDE - a free ide that allows you to record your tests and then play them back, very useful for learning how to write tests. NUnit - an open-source framework, written in .Net, that allows you to write tests for any programming language.

I'm currently working on my first ASP.Net project and I have been using NUnit as the framework to test my application. It's easy to learn and there are plenty of good tutorials on the web. It's also fairly easy to customize for your own needs, so I would recommend it.

Is playwright better than Selenium?

I've been debating whether to learn web development on how to best at the job I hate. I currently do some web dev work, but I don't do it much. However I have recently started to do little things here and there since the site has gotten busier, and I hate what I have to do. I would rather write code that actually runs on a website instead of just doing copy and paste.

However I'm thinking of going into programming because I think I am better at it than selenium. And if I were to put my self skillset into writing better code I would rather do this than programming. But is Selenium easier to learn? or playwriter easier to learn and apply to projects?

The whole point of learning a "programming language" is to make your life easier when working on applications that have a lot of logic associated with it, and the more languages you learn the easier this becomes. Learning Playwright will allow you to accomplish everything you can do with Selenium, so there's really no reason to think you won't be able to do anything useful with Selenium. Unless you want to start using Selenium in ways it wasn't intended for, of course.

Selenium lets you drive multiple browsers at once. That's a pretty huge plus, over a language like Python or C#. You'll also get a much larger number of tools available for manipulating web pages. (eg Selenium lets you interactively view the DOM, edit nodes in a tree view, etc.)

JcalvettiMay 3 '13 at 0:47. I see. Well Selenium just doesn't cover the stuff it's made for. The website isn't that large it doesn't need so many steps, I've gotten used to driving everything manually in Selenium. And I can't say for Selenium, but I can say to python-webkit, which is really similar to all of selenium. But I like python-webkit better than Playwright.

That's what I used to think too but it's very different! Playwright is meant to be used mainly for interacting with websites - whereas Selenium works on all web content out there.
